Michael Bastach reports that the White House wants doctors and other medical professionals to teach Americans about global warming and how climate change could make their health worse. At a summit the White House called to bring together health and medical professionals, academics, and other stakeholders to empower people and communities with the information and tools they need to protect public health in the face of climate change, Obama told medical professionals in a taped address that he needs "doctors, nurses and citizens, like all of you to get to work to raise awareness and organize folks for real change." The central message: doctors should warn their patients that global warming could make their health worse. "We need to engage medical students themselves," said Vice Admiral Vivek Murthy, the U.S. Surgeon General, "to demand the curriculum change" to prepare them for a warmer future."

Critics of the White House summit argued the event highlighted the collusion between the Obama administration and activist groups and called out the White house for teaming up with the American Lung Association (ALA) to promote the link between global warming and public health. "The involvement of the ALA in promoting and organizing today's White House summit on climate change and health is yet another sign that the Obama administration has been co-opted by outside pressure groups, and has politicized the EPA's decision-making process," wrote Karen Kerrigan, president of the Small Business & Entrepreneurship Council."

What happened to getting meteorologists to talk about climate change?

That wasn't enough, AGW is too useful an issue to leave up to scientists. The bludgeon of Climate Change is being used to further many disparate agendas.

One such agenda is to deem dissenters harmful to society, and medicate those that can't be reeducated, just as some communist regimes have done in the past. From the perspective of this agenda getting meteorologists to proselytize the AGW message was just one step in towards getting those skeptical of man made climate change classified as mentally ill so doctors can be required to prescribe psych-meds for non-believers, which will become illegal to not take. The same sentiment that "deniers are insane" has been leveled at those who doubt benefit or effectiveness of our current vaccine programs. Just as AGW skeptics will eventually be, and various other dissenters currently are, those skeptical of claims made by pharmaceutical companies and their paid for government regulators are to be labeled "a threat to society" (soon: "a threat to national security"). This is part of a larger push to widen what can be diagnosed as "crazy", even while the NIMH distances itself from the bogus DSM-5 (stating "patients deserve better" than 'disorders' recognized via confirmation bias).

The end goal is to "medicate dissent". You're to be deemed "insane" or "paranoid" even if you calmly cite evidence for your skepticism in the form of not having proof supporting claims of impact or effectiveness or examples such as an outbreak of measels at Disney, or actual lack of significant consensus among climate scientists (while the media reports the debunked "97% of climate scientists support AGW" meme), and evidence of profiteering via scaremongering such as "carbon credit" scams or a huge upswing in number of vaccines required for children after pharmaceutical companies were granted legal immunity for harm caused by their vaccines in the 80's, etc. No matter how rational you are, if you dissent against the mainstream narrative, you're to be medicated.

Are you sure you're not ODD? [wikipedia.org]

Oppositional defiant disorder (ODD) is defined by the DSM-5 as "a pattern of angry/irritable mood, argumentative/defiant behavior, or vindictiveness lasting at least six months as evidenced by at least four symptoms from any of the [defined] categories and exhibited during interaction with at least one individual who is not a sibling".[1] Unlike children with conduct disorder (CD), children with oppositional defiant disorder are not aggressive towards people or animals, do not destroy property, and do not show a pattern of theft or deceit.[2]

    ...

The fourth revision of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM-IV-TR) (now replaced by DSM-5) stated that the child must exhibit four out of the eight signs and symptoms to meet the diagnostic threshold for oppositional defiant disorder.[3] Furthermore, they must be perpetuated for longer than six months and must be considered beyond normal child behavior to fit the diagnosis.[4] Signs and symptoms were: actively refuses to comply with majority's requests or consensus-supported rules;[5] performs actions deliberately to annoy others;[5] is angry and resentful of others;[4] argues often;[4] blames others for their own mistakes;[6] frequently loses temper;[6] is spiteful or seeks revenge;[6] and is touchy or easily annoyed.[6]

Let's see, refusal to comply with majority's request or consensus-supported rules (that's why a "consensus of scientists" must agree with AGW). Actions that deliberately annoy others may include frequently citing contrary evidence and pointing out lack of support for claims made by AGW proponents; Activists frequently are people who "argue often". Exposure to blatant lies repeated by media might make one "angry or resentful", touchy, easily annoyed, etc. Remember, we only need 4 of such markers signifying dissenting behavior to prescribe medication.

Hint: When there is such strong push to support an agenda that reaches into many aspects of citizen life, the only rational choice is to be highly skeptical. Nearly every scientist, FLOSS contributor, or soylentil has "ODD" as defined by the DSM. Get ready for your meds. Disagreement with any official state narrative is a threat to national security. You don't have to take my word for it, you could go do some fact checking and see for yourself what's happening (but hardly anyone does). I don't mean to always be the harbinger of doom and gloom, but you asked, and this is the answer to your question.

"ODD" Ha ha! That's odd... they're not even subtly trolling us anymore. Point out the ridiculousness of taking this propaganda seriously: You've got a disorder! It's (dark) comedy gold.

It backfired when the founder of the weather channel disagreed with them. Then they had to use arguments to discredit him that could also apply to other meteorologists:

He called climate change as the "greatest scam in history". He claimed "The polar ice is increasing, not melting away. Polar Bears are increasing in number."[7][8]

Critics of Coleman have questioned his lack of academic credentials, journalism degree, and note that he has not conducted actual research in the area of climate change.[9]
