I'm wondering what Linux distros my fellow soylentils use, and why.

I myself have loved Fedora since version 7, and never cared much for Debian systems. My desktops either run Fedora or a source-built XFCE system. What distros do you use, what architectures, and why do you use them? Are there any distros you wish were still around?

My personal computer has Windows 7 on it, because Games. My work computer has Windows 7 on it, because that's what they gave me. I have created a children's computer / scanning station with Ubuntu Linux for work. (I have no idea what version anymore, because it just works.) I have created multiple versions of a Puppy Linux Kiosk for work. I started with one of the 4.X versions and am currently working on a 6.x version of Puppy Linux. I remaster a CD so the Kiosk runs entirely off the CD and everything gets wiped at boot. I hack the configuration files to remove features/functionality, etc. I have SteamOS on a hobby machine (Quad-Core with decent graphics) at home that I don't really use except to test out different things, like SteamOS. I have an old IBM Thinkpad a21m that I installed Lubuntu onto, but haven't had much use for it in a while. I also have an old IBM Thinkpad R31 (I think it's the R31) that I probably have Lubuntu on as well, it's been a long time. I have a Raspberry Pi - Original and Raspberry Pi 2. I have toyed with them and put Raspbmc/OSMC on them. My ideal would be able to just run Linux and be able to game, but SteamOS isn't there yet. SteamOS will be the reason Linux Gaming succeeded, if we see it any time in the near future. I know there are Linux games, but too much of the time Linux is a pure after thought. Assuming it's even thought about at all.

Well, freedom isn't free, if it's Micro$erf freedom. And in general, if freedom isn't free, then it's not really freedom, is it? "We had to destroy freedom, in order to save it!" Wow, from Bến Tre to gaming on Windows. May Dog have mercy on your carpets.

Also win 7 on the Games box, but since it got a new motherboard last month, I upgraded its dual-boot to Mint 17.2 Cinnamon 64...
Then i decided to put that same Mint 17.2 Cinnamon 64 on the wife's badly expired XP SP1 home theater, and on my new NUC.

The best thing about it is that everything just worked on all three, right out of the box. Wife didn't complain about anything either (her laptop is Win 8.1)

I tried Mint Debian a for a few weeks (17.1 didn't support the NUC's video correctly), but it had just enough annoying quirks to get nuked as soon as Mint 17.2 became beta.
