I'm wondering what Linux distros my fellow soylentils use, and why.
I myself have loved Fedora since version 7, and never cared much for Debian systems. My desktops either run Fedora or a source-built XFCE system. What distros do you use, what architectures, and why do you use them? Are there any distros you wish were still around?

Gentoo with XFCE (hobby projects, movies, youtube, serious business) on the gaming rig, dual booting Windows 8.1. I find the tile start menu thinggummy good for launching games (and useless for all other activities). Windows 7 at work due to poorly written proprietary software.

There were few people running 7. Why did the number surprise you? Because of 8 and 10? Everything works on 7. Nothing annoying on 7. And, unfortunately, there are many critical pieces of software that business professionals need that break on anything but xp, vista, and 7.

Perhaps it's because those who shame others are living in commercial apartments, eating commercial food, working for a business, visiting commercial doctors, and using commercial Internet to tell everyone else how bad is everyone who uses commercial software.

Straw man. The problem is not with price; it is with freedom. By using the word "commercial", you try to imply that the issue is with price. Proprietary software infringes upon the users' freedoms, and that is why it must be rejected.
You are dishonest, and you also used the tu quoque fallacy.
