The Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, Time and several other news sources are reporting that Ellen Pao is resigning as CEO of Reddit. Pao will be replaced by Steve Huffman, a Reddit co-founder and its first CEO.

Pao has had a stormy and controversial stint as interim chief executive officer of Reddit which culminated in a mass user protest in recent weeks, as previously reported on SN.

What happened here was the same old story of poor communication, mismanagement, and out of touch leadership. It isn't just Pao who is at fault in the issues at Reddit, but she is taking the heat for it because the backlash happened in public and the board needs someone to take the blame. Plus she was kinda unpopular to begin with. Had all this happened behind closed doors (like in most other companies) then she would still have her job. However this played out in front of everyone.
