Man's hierarchy of needs has changed:

A man attending a performance of the Broadway play Hand to God decided that he needed a little more juice on his iPhone—just before the play started. So, because any outlet is fair game when your battery icon is flashing red, he climbed up onto the stage and plugged his phone into a prop wall with a prop outlet and walked away. Of course, the outlet—like the wall—was fake.

According to the New York Post, the crew had to stop the pre-show music and make an announcement to the audience that that sort of thing isn't allowed. One audience member copped to "loudly heckling the idiot" when the ushers removed the phone and asked him to take it back.

After Hurricane Sandy legions of iPhone and other smart phone owners camped out in the Long Island malls, recharging at outlets normally used for floor waxers. What's the most desperate scene of Dying Battery Panic Syndrome you've witnessed?

We are all assuming that he needed the juice to update facebook, check emails and (shudder) take phone calls. Who knows what maddeningly comedic situations lead to him being there without enough power? (obviously the most likely is he forgot to charge it).

I no longer have a SataNav in the car and rely on my Android phone. I go out of my way to make sure it is never out of power when I need it. But if its dead, I might not be able to get home.

    Honestly?

Then you need one of these. [ebay.com] (Not affiliated, there are many others, etc.) Seriously, people who always have a USB lead on them to be able to charge the phone should also have a USB power bank. They're dirt cheap. If you only absolutely need the phone to work while you're in the car, get a cigarette lighter USB charger, also dirt cheap.

because putting a car charger in the glove box for times like this is too intellectually challenging for the mobile phone addicted.

OTOH, I drove for decades without ever having any satnav gadget and somehow survived. So did most people in my generation. Stupidity doesn't seem to be hereditary.
