According to the Wall Street Journal, Intel is doubling referral bonuses for women, minorities and veterans. Employees can receive $4,000 bonuses for suggesting candidates that meet the company's diversity goals. Intel had previously pledged $300 million over the next five years to address "Silicon Valley's disappointing diversity numbers," and has set a goal of "full representation" of women and under-represented minorities by 2020:
The new programs at Intel and across the tech sector come as companies report little-changed diversity numbers. Intel's diversity statistics for 2014 showed 24 percent of Intel employees are female. The company is also predominantly white and Asian, with only 3.5% black and 8% Latino employees. The company did not include statistics about veterans in its report.
Christine Dotts, a spokeswoman for Intel, said in an email that higher recruiting bonuses have been used by the company in the last decade, but she declined to comment on when or how much the bonuses were for.

By definition veterans don't live free or have "a mind of their own" to the extent as lifelong civilians do. Veterans have followed orders in their life. Free thinkers never make it past basic. They don't have the will to give up their will.

Your ignorance is astounding. Despite the fact that our men and women in uniform have been grossly misused for most of my life - we are free men and women. We CHOSE to serve. And, yes, without us, and the preceding generations of men and women who CHOSE TO SERVE, there wouldn't be a United States. Or, maybe you would prefer that Germany and Japan had tended to business in the rest of the world, then turned on us, to carve the US into colonies?

They way I see it, if the US is dead-set on being a police state, the best choice is to be a member of the police forces, that way you can actually make a difference. Its a soldier's duty to refuse illegal and unconstitutional orders, so when the US comes under martial law in the next couple years, you'd better hope most of the soldiers have my mindset of wanting to protect the constitution, the country, and its citizens, instead of your mindset of "Fuck you, DIAF you piece of shit".

With that kind of reasoning you might as well say that anyone who follows the law isn't a "Free Thinker". Even in the US Army you can do all the "free thinking" you want. It's the execution of your thoughts that are restricted : )

now that's a load of shit if i've ever heard one. we don't just "follow orders" [about.com] in the military, only lawful orders (so the first step after receiving an order is evaluating - is this lawful? does this violate my oath of office [wikipedia.org]?). free thinkers make it though basic just fine, and usually rise up through the ranks quite well (compared to their non-thinking brothers); the only time being a free thinker is a problem is if you get stuck under some piece of shit, totalitarian, failure of a leader despot who micro-manages everything and punishes his subordinates for thinking.
