El Reg reports Brassiere belays boob-bound bullet, begetting bruised breastbone

[A] woman, who was cycling through Germany's least densely populated state of Mecklenberg-Western Pomerania, was saved by the wire lining of her bra, reported Germany's Gadebusch-Rehnaer Zeitung.

[A] couple had chosen to cycle across a field between the towns of Gadebusch and Kochelstor in Germany, when they unwittingly entered a conflict between man and beast.

Feeling a sudden pain in her chest, and glancing thither, she noted that she'd been struck by a rebounded shot and was saved only by the underwire of her brassiere, leaving her with but a bruise.

The minimalist technology involved surprised me. I expected something much more exotic.

So sollen Schützen nur noch von einem etwa 2,50 Meter hohen Ansitz ihre Geschosse abfeuern.

"Shooters should protect only still from a 2.5 meter high Ansitz their projectiles fire."?

It would help if either online translator I tried registered "Ansitz." Maybe it's a modified form of "setzen", "to sit"? Perhaps something you sit on. So my stab at it would be "To protect people, hunters should only fire from a sitting position 2.5 meters high."

Still not sure what the heck that has to do with the issue :P

(My german is bad, but here's my guess)

"A shooter may not shoot from a platform/cover more than 2.5m above ground"

"Hochsitz" is the german for "tree stand"/"deer stand" (and hunting from such is called "Ansitzjagd"

So translating it to German still preserves the inherent joke where you don't actually stand, but sit, in a stand? Ha ha, nice.

They mean that your blind/tree stand should be at that height so that your shot is angled down and won't travel further than you mean it to, as it did in this case. The ground effectively becomes your backstop.
