TAILS is a live system that aims to preserve your privacy and anonymity. It helps you to use the Internet anonymously and circumvent censorship almost anywhere you go and on any computer but leaving no trace unless you ask it to explicitly.

It is a complete operating system designed to be used from a DVD, USB stick, or SD card independently of the computer's original operating system. It is Free Software and based on Debian GNU/Linux.

Tails comes with several built-in applications pre-configured with security in mind: web browser, instant messaging client, email client, office suite, image and sound editor, etc.

I just read the Tails help pages for the first time. Those who haven't read their warnings page need to read it. Its eye-opening if you think you are being watched.

For using Tails, it looks like I need an uncompromised system to download the ISO and an uncompromised system to write it to a flash drive etc, and then never insert it into a compromised system. For anyone running Windows, Mac, this is an issue.

What if I don't have access to an uncompromised system? What to do?

    a) I think I will put in an old, unused hard drive into a computer.
    b) Install Linux from a CD that I burned many years ago.
    c) Download a bittorrent client using pre-installed FF.
    d) Download the Tails torrent, write ISO to drive.

So much work. But I will be using it from now on.
