A piece titled A.I. Astrology on Medium documents a new application available for IBM's Watson AI framework. The new application analyzes writing to build an estimation of the Big five personality index (which is a bit like Meyers-Briggs, but with more reliable results) of the writer as well as a few others. The writer of the article performed analysis on some famous figures.

You can play with the tool yourself here.

A quick glance thru the AI Astro article and playing around a bit with the testing tool.

"Calm under pressure ... you handle unexpected events calmly and effectively ... you are laid-back, you appreciate a relaxed pace in life". Sounds just like Uncle Stalin! Stalin seems like a nice fella. He is also apparently hard to embarrass, I guess it's hard to do that when the secret police lurks behind every corner to disappear anyone he doesn't approve of. That Stalin was a paranoid mass murder somehow doesn't float to the surface in his speeches.

If this just didn't prove that this was complete crap right out of the gate I don't know what will.

"You are expressive and genial" George W. Bush. Right. He could barely stitch words together to form a sentance and I think we could all cast doubt about his other feelings described as being genial and empathic. The problem is of cause that Bush didn't write that address to the nation after 9-11. Some, team of, speech writers did it for him. The other thing is that its kinda scarey to note how many things GWB apparently have in common with Stalin.

"You consider both independence and helping others to guide a large part of what you do. You like to set your own goals to decide how to best achieve them. And you think it is important to take care of the people around you". I guess we all just misunderstood poor George. He seems so nice now. Setting his own goals ... like starting unwinnable wars.

I pasted in Hitler speech at Nuremberg from September of 1938. He was described as "unconventional but emphatic", philosophical - he loved to explore new ideas (global war, mass murder and weird theories about blood purity). He was also unconcerned with tradition and wanted to blaze his own path (across Europe I gather).

Yeah. I think I'll just pass on this whole thing. It just doesn't seem to offer very much in the way of insights. Mostly cause most people that hold these speeches probably didn't really write it themselves.
