"Happy or Not" feedback kiosks will be appearing outside of Transportation Security Administration (TSA) checkpoints in select airports as part of a year-long pilot program:

The silver kiosks now stand at 27 passport offices around the country and 14 Social Security offices. In the next few weeks, passengers at Reagan National, LaGuardia, Los Angeles International and San Francisco International airports will see them as they leave the Transportation Security Administration checkpoints. The Department of Veterans Affairs also plans to launch kiosks soon.

The system for customers is pretty simple, even if the technology isn't. You click on one of four emoji buttons: a happy face, a somewhat happy face, an angry face or a somewhat angry one. And someone in the agencies' customer service offices will be watching for the data to stream in seconds through a computer. The responses, all anonymous, will be summarized every hour.

Here is an official website of the US Government for the program. From the FAQ:

Will the feedback data be open to the general public?

During the pilot phase, the feedback data will only be available to GSA staff participating in this pilot, participating frontline supervisors, and other relevant staff determined by the agency. If the pilot is successful, we plan to eventually make the citizen feedback data available to the general public.

Who do I contact for more information about the pilot?

For more information, please contact FeedbackUSA@gsa.gov.

If people aren't boycotting the airline industry because the TSA is violating their constitutional and fundamental rights, then pretty much nothing the TSA does will cause them to do so. These minor injustices by the TSA are nothing in comparison to the systematic constitutional violations it is responsible for each and every day. But that is mostly all people focus on. These scores are as useless as you say, and even people giving low scores are still semi-voluntarily surrendering their liberties (which doesn't make this any less unconstitutional) just to get on a plane, making them part of the problem.

I am. And for that exact reason. And will tell anyone who asks me why I don't fly.

I highly encourage everyone else to, as well. Lots of fun info to bring up. Cancer machines (bought with no-bid contracts awarded to friends). Fingerbanging for "freedom". And the fact that you get to pay for the privilege of all of the above with "security fees"!

Do you lose a lot of friends this way? People like to be in the in-crowd, and people in the in-crowd are people who fly. If you refuse to fly, and you enjoy talking about your refusal to fly, you are in the out-crowd. When people find out you are in the out-crowd, you are finished.

I'm with you. I haven't flown once since TSA started up.

One possibility for this is to try to get a lot of positive ratings that they can released and say "Stop bitching and boycotting; most people we groped had a pleasurable experience!" If the results aren't positive enough, they won't be released.
