Scripts for the first five episodes of the yet-to-be-screened and highly-anticipated series eight of Doctor Who have been leaked online.

The leak is said to have come from BBC Worldwide's new Miami office, which was arranging translation of the new series for non-English speaking markets. The scripts are said to bear a BBC watermark, the name of a staffer and to be extremely detailed post-production scripts describing on-screen action as well as dialogue.

Unconfirmed rumours claimed the scripts were placed on a public server which was indexed by a search engine. An innocent search stumbled upon the scripts, which eventually made their way into torrents and sites such as Scribd.

It's a link to a webpage, not a link to the torrent, which the torrent isn't even a copy of the scripts.

So fuck the DMCA if they send a request, they have nothing to request, no laws being broken.

The Reg shan't reveal any details, in line with the BBC's plea to keep the scripts under wraps.

Fuck reading ahead and spoiling a show I enjoy watching. Fuck you for acting in a manner that hurts that show. Shame on you.

And fuck guys like you that think it "hurts" the show as that is about the dumbest shit I have EVER heard and I am a refuge from Slashdot sir. To say that anybody who is a fan of Dr Who is gonna read the script and go "okay now I don't need to see the show" is pants on head retarded, as its not "just" the story that makes folks a fan of that show, its the acting, effects (both cheesy and good), direction, pacing, in other words its the PRESENTATION that makes Dr Who what it is!

As for the whole "Leaked stuff online hurts the show" bullshit? Directly behind my head is the entire Joss Whedon collection, bookended by a couple of collectible figures given to me by my late sister, know what got me into Whedon? A half a dozen episodes on P2P of Buffy season 1 including the never released pilot with a different girl playing Willow! In my area there wasn't a WB and if I went by the description, a horror comedy by the guy that made the awful Buffy movie starring a soap opera actress and the guy from the coffee commercials"? I would have NEVER watched that shit but because some episodes were leaked online i was able to watch them and get hooked.

So if anything I would argue this will build MORE buzz for the show, as those that read this will want to see how the shows change when compared to the original script and what gets changed.

You're going to read the script, go 'meh' while you're watching the show because now you're lacking suspense, then you'll spend the next season complaining about how Doctor Who is going down-hill. Fuck. You.

Which is why nobody goes to plays anymore (after all the plots are all online) and of course all the comic book movies bombed (since the comics they are based on can be read online) and of course all the Agatha Christie and Arthur Conan Doyle books never got made into anything since who doesn't know who did it?

Sorry but you sir were the one that wrote that dumb shit without thinking but feel free to keep right on digging yourself deeper into the hole, surely you can dig your way out if you just keep piling on the bullshit. oh BTW might want to tell the BBC to toss those Dr Who classic DVDs in the rubbish, after all everyone can read a summary online so who would want to buy it?...Face it your reasoning is bullshit, Dr Who fans are as rabid as they come and if anything they will want to watch it more to see how what is written gets translated for the screen.

"Which is why nobody goes to plays anymore... and a bunch of other unrelated crap."

I'm surprised you didn't bring up Titanic, after-all you spent all that time searching for a successful movie/TV show/Book/outhouse/doghouse where everybody 'knew the ending', and what better example than that, right? Nope. Those stories, they were all designed with a certain amount of foreknowledge. James Cameron, for example, knew that you knew the Titanic sunk. But... but... that defeats my point, right? Nope. It was still suspenseful because the core of the movie wasn't about whether or not the ship would sink. Doctor Who, however, was not designed that way. Knowing whether or not Rose Tyler survived the Cybermen invasion made a big difference on how the last scene played out. Luckily jerks like you didn't come out of the wood-work to take that one from me. You were happy to do it with other season finales, but at least I got that one.

Would this be the same BBC that made 'Sssh, no spoilers!' one of their catchphrases? Oh what about all those web-forums who specify 'no spoilers'? Surely those are redundant because of your oh-so-superior-rationalization. Oh... wait, turns out it's not, because we've already learned this lesson. You little spoiler-hungry yap-heads made that happen. Once you find something out, you can't keep it locked into that little skull of yours. Remember when the show resurfaced in 2005? If you're in America, your memory of that is at least 6 months later than if you were in the UK because that's how long it took to make its way over here. People downloaded it on-line and started threads like "The Daleks are back!!", and since half of Dalek's big reveal was that it was the last Dalek, lots of fun was sucked out for lots of people. That was one of a whole shit-ton of ass-hattery people like you have brought to the internet. I actively DON'T look for spoilers, but I cannot get away from you noisy turds. The only relief I have is that these days Doctor Who is legitimately available within a few hours of it airing in the UK. Now I have to dodge you loudmouths yet again for a whole season. The worst part is when you're disappointed, you'll have no clue that it was because you didn't watch it as intended, you'll just think the show sucks and then moan about that. Again.

leaking this will only make us harder to watch the real thing (although, like after reading the book, will we compare the 'show' against it?).

They needn't worry... this won't turn away viewers, nor advertisers.

Whatever happened to the Easter premieres of the last few years?

      • - Late Easter, followed by Soccer World Cup < 12 weeks later
      • - 2013 budget and time blown on the 50th anniversary specials*
      • - Probably also has something to do with the USA TV schedules, now its really taking off over there.

*Money well spent, of course, vis: 'Adventure in Space & Time' - quite good,
'Day of the Doctor' - quite good,
'The 5-ish doctors' - bit of a laugh,
'Day of the Doctor Afterparty' - stunning(ly bad) but not quite up there with the Star Wars Holiday Special or the Sam Fox/Mick Fleetwood Brit awards!!!
