The U.S. Department of Agriculture on Friday approved a
genetically engineered potato that is resistant to bruising and cuts down on a possible cancer-causing substance, though some food-safety experts aren’t so excited about the super spud.
The Innate Potato, trademarked by Simplot, contains the DNA of other kinds of potatoes mixed in through a process known as RNA interference technology, The Guardian reports.

It's not a super potato until it grows a big steak on the side with it as well. Then just throw the whole damn thing on the grill.
Not that I'd eat it :)

I think you meant to say "it's not a super potato until it comes filled with its own sour cream, chives, comes already baked and sprouts rib eyes instead of leaves.

There sure are a lot of Flamebait mods in this thread.

On the GMO front, I'll admit that potato genes in potatoes seems a lot less ominous than fish genes in tomatoes. [wikipedia.org]

There are plenty of known mechanisms of inducing cancer as well as others that are associated with an increased chance of developing it. Radiation, carcinogens, immunosuppression, viral infections, chronic inflammation, etc.
