Blake Krikorian, longtime and much-beloved Silicon Valley entrepreneur, died on 8/3 [August 3]. While the cause of his death is still unconfirmed, he was apparently struck by a heart attack while surfing in the San Francisco area.

The news of his passing has slowly been making its way this morning through the tech network that he was a big part of. Krikorian was only 48.

Considered one of tech's savviest execs with regard to video and media distribution, Krikorian was also one of its most ebullient characters and was never shy about expressing his opinion about anything.

Krikorian is survived by his wife Cathy and two daughters. His death leaves them, and all of Silicon Valley really, devastated.

So the current meme is that the human brain doesn't finish developing until mid to late twenties.

That doesn't leave a good deal of time to to make your mark on the world while in full command of your faculties. Full maturation at 40ish, and then a slow decline.

      So 7 years.

Although I'm not quite 47, I recognize the damnable idiocy that is youth. In short- too stupid to know how stupid you really are.

I'm doubtful the young would make for a better world, given the seat of power.

At best, they are begrudgingly tolerated until they hopefully pull their collective heads out of their asses.

I haven't noticed much groundbreaking research coming out of the valley either.

*sigh* I see I have to dig up those quotes again.

Our youth now love luxury. They have bad manners, contempt for authority; they show disrespect for their elders and love chatter in place of exercise; they no longer rise when elders enter the room; they contradict their parents, chatter before company; gobble up their food and tyrannize their teachers. -- Socrates, 400 BC

I see no hope for the future of our people if they are dependent on frivolous youth of today, for certainly all youth are reckless beyond words... When I was young, we were taught to be discreet and respectful of elders, but the present youth are exceedingly disrespectful and impatient of restraint. -- Hesiod, 700 BC

Our earth is degenerate in these latter days; there are signs that the world is speedily coming to an end; bribery and corruption are common; children no longer obey their parents; every man wants to write a book and the end of the world is evidently approaching. - Assyrian tablet, 2800 BC

We live in a decaying age. Young people no longer respect their parents. They are rude and impatient. They frequently inhabit taverns and have no self control. - Egyptian tomb, 4000 BC

by the amount of people that die from heart issues, you would think everyone in positions of power would be pushing into biotech to make permanent artificial hearts a reality. seriously, it's not like it's even a distant technology and it would likely extend the lives of most people. but hey, if you think the next social media doodad is more important, ignore the issue and die earlier.

and all of Silicon Valley really, devastated.

yeah, my world is now rocked. I am not able to carry on.

oh wait, are we talking about reality or dream land?

who the fuck is this guy? and why do you think 'silicon valley is devastated'? please stop becoming the green site. we could care less about rich folks who died. poor people and middle class people die all the time and no one writes about them.

the more rich folks die, the better it is for those who have to WORK for a living.

I hate to sound like 'that guy' but I'm pretty tired of having to bow my head when someone rich and/or famous dies. most of the time, they are just human beings and their effect on us is minimal, at best. the fact that they were rich does not and should not give them a higher pass in being mentioned just for passing away.

and again, please stop being like the green site. your last sentence was 100% unnecessary and was very click-baity.

If they are endemic to the region, they shoulda put some safety nets against those heart attacks; really, do you want ebullient characters to go extinct?
In other parts of the world they do it against shark attacks.

leaves... all of Silicon Valley ... devastated.

Finally, you can't blame him again! Look, a devastation that's not St. Andreas' fault.
