Russia's telecom operator on Friday said that it had blocked a series of cyber attacks on the country's leading banks this week, the latest to target the country's financial sector.

Rostelecom said in a statement that it "successfully thwarted DDoS (distributed denial of service) on the five biggest banks and financial organisations in Russia" on December 5.

"The most sustained attack lasted more than two hours," it said.

Russia's FSB security service last week said it had uncovered plans by foreign intelligence services to carry out massive cyber attacks targeting the country's financial system from December 5.

They cheated for decades in the Olympics. They keep getting caught in lies. Much like Trump on the campaign trail I don't believe a single thing that comes out of their mouthes.

That's the funny thing about it. This might be the MOST believable thing the Russians are saying. They have some minor INTERPOL-tier shit go down. It's real. But then you doubt it because...... you forgot how to play realpolitik. Get in the game because shit is only going to get weirder over the next 8 years.

If you can get people to throw up their hands and announce "it's all lies" when really only it's only you who is lying, then you've won.

You are degraded, your opponent is degraded.

Everything becomes, like, just your opinion man.

Whoever has the most Twitter followers and can command the largest TV audience gets to sway the most opinions.

I can only hope the Republicans screw up SO badly they can't finagle it with patriotic trite. I can already hear "Fix News" wheeling the "Why do you hate America?" cannon.

I had a fun run-in with what I expect was a Trump supporter. Old guy had so much latent anger and was drunk, called me a smooth talking con artist (when I truly hadn't said anything yet, old guy was just trying to converse with my date at first) and then went off on fake news and how we DO have the power to stop it. I mentioned the 1st amendment, I guess the constitution really is just a piece of paper to a lot of these types. They "know" what is right and don't need a stupid piece of paper to keep them from fixing things! Damn government and their meddling *shakes fist while ignoring that he wants the gov to censor folks*

The guy even had a clue about the country being divided into us vs. them, yet foisted all his anger on a lowly web dev who doesn't even work in advertising / fake news shit.

Obama was a wake up call for the democrats, and if it wasn't for all the shady shit Clinton's side pulled we'd have President Sanders right now. I can only hope that Trump is a similar wake up call for conservatives and that they drop the anti-science bullshit which makes them look retarded.
