Face it, Sam... this is 2017. Even the best tracker couldn't find a Cherry in these parts. What am I going to I do, Slim? It's a Cherry or nothing. Let me show you a couple of things. This is our Bambi 14 model. Brand-new, never been used. Coming up is our Cindy 99O. Strictly domestic, actually. Housework, taxes. Below the waist, no man's land. If I read yo correctly, I think you're looking for something with a little more spunk. Spunk isn't exactly the word. It's more a kind of... intangible. Step down for a minute and gaze upon perfection,. craftsmanship, disk drive, pelvic roll. This is when Detroit still cared. Sam? Sam? Oh, Sam. Look, give me a little time. I'II check around. That's all I can do.

With unemployment down to 40%, the nation rounds the corner. Salvage and recycling centers are paving the way for the future. Just as our grandfathers generation did, workers today need to think twice before throwing things away. Toaster ovens, steam irons, blow dryers. Whole families are pitching in. The result is plain to see. A new life for household appliances.

As the tag says: SN ....is people

The staff are all volunteers from the community and remain a part of it whilst staff - so to me the story reads a little oddly, there is no staff v community / them n us here - just a bunch of people from within the community with the time, inclination and ability to leave ideology aside whilst attending to staffy matters. Sure we have heated debates in #editorial and #soylent, flame each other in comments etc. - but when it comes to running the site, that all goes to by the by and what needs to be done gets done. I think that speaks volumes about all those involved (staff or not) and I am happy to finally collaborate with, for want of a better word, intelligent adults.

I'm also happy TheMightyBuzzard missed his last chance to call me a damn idealogical socialist or some such non-slur in 2016 by dint of either being off fishing or napping.

Anyway - all the best for 2017 to all that read this.

"I don't know what you're getting out of this that compels you keep pushing forward but I appreciate you for doing so"

Let's deconstruct this. I can only speak for myself here.

What I get out of it? Nothing in the traditional sense of "getting" something.... there is no financial reward or a badge that can be pinned to a CV/resume to be gained here. The reward is being around intelligent people who just get stuff done, in a place where we can disagree without resorting to personal attacks.

The Compulsion... is the lack of compulsion. No-one is compelled to do anything on SN. It's a group or community effort - a place we create for ourselves and shape as we see fit.

^^ This is why TheMightyBuzzard calls me a socialist :D I prefer humanist if you really need to apply labels!
