A power company has created a drone that blasts fire at power lines to get rid of rubbish. The method is being used in Xiangyang, China, using a DJI S1000+ model which costs £1,500 alone without the addition of a fire stick. It carries a weight of 11 kilos, and is guided by a man in a hard hat using a £440 Futaba 14SG 14-channel radio controller.

A video shows the tool being used in a testing capacity, replacing a job once delegated to humans on cherrypicker vehicles.

I can easily imagine hackers diverting these things toward oil refineries, fertilizer nitration plants, and lots of other big fun places that go whoosh or bang when ignited.

A release mechanism a pin retaining hook and an incendiary grenade will work far better.

The think that is surprising isn't what could be destroyed everyday, but rather what *ISN'T* destroyed everyday given the level of bureacratic incompetence in law enforcement, prevention, and industrial risk management.

The world doesn't burn because 99.9 percent of the world doesn't want it to burn, not because the power in change, or the people enforcing are doing a good job at preventing it.

Face it: even the bad people want the conveniences of modern life.

The Daesh idiots are starting to use consumer-grade drones to drop explosives, so even if they don't have enough batteries to reach outside of their neighborhood, we will soon see copycats (more likely homebrewed crazies than actual Daesh sympathizers).

Maybe we could use one of these to get rid of all the shoes strung over wires in American cities.
