Four people have been arrested in connection with the leak of S07E04 of Game of Thrones:

An India-based media technology company said Wednesday that it regrets the recent leak of an episode of the popular HBO series Game of Thrones by four of its current and former employees.

Indian police have detained the four suspects, but said their motive for leaking the episode titled The Spoils of War was unclear. The fourth episode in the television series' seventh season leaked three days before its planned Aug. 6 air date and quickly circulated online.

And now, here comes S07E06:

HBO in Spain has aired, apparently by mistake, the sixth episode of Games of Thrones' seventh season a week ahead of schedule.

The episode was available to Spanish subscribers early Tuesday for about an hour before being removed. The 71-minute episode is due to be officially available Aug. 21.

HBO Hacked, Leak of Game of Thrones s07e04 Unrelated 3 comments

HBO acknowledged earlier this week that it has been hacked:

The HBO hack may have been worse than the initial leaks of a few unaired TV show episodes suggested. A security company hired by HBO to scrub search results for the hacked files from search engines has told Google that the hackers stole "thousands of Home Box Office (HBO) internal company documents."

The disclosure came as part of a DMCA take-down notice sent to Google Tuesday to force the search engine to take down links to the leaked files. The take-down notice also detailed that the hackers did away with "masses of copyrighted items including documents, images, videos and sound."

[...] The hackers appear to have also leaked personal information of a senior HBO executive. That information, published online in a text document, contains access information to dozens of online accounts, including paid newspaper subscriptions, online banking, and personal health services. At least one of these accounts may also have given the hackers access to the executive's work email.

The perpetrators of the hack have claimed that they were able to access some of HBO's key network infrastructure, and steal a total of 1.5 terabyte of data, and have suggested that they will release additional information in the near future. An image file published as part of the leaks seems to corroborate at least the first part of that claim, as it appears to show screenshots of HBO's internal administration tools, listing employee names and email addresses and their functions within the organization.

Meanwhile, a low quality copy of s07e04 of Game of Thrones appeared online Friday, but is reportedly unconnected to the HBO hack. Instead, a hack, mistake, or leak occurred at Star India, which receives Game of Thrones episodes in advance of airing.

DuckTales 2017 reboot. My childhood is ruined.

I didn't like the new art style (it looks cold and manga-inspired; just compare to old show where there was vibrant colors and more soft shapes) nor, most of, the character changes. Mrs. Beakley appears to be some kind of steroid-infused-athlete that escaped the USSR. Huey, Louie and Dewey getting separate "personalities" is the biggest travesty ever, it's like they never read anything Barks or Rosa ever created. Giving Webby a bigger part was ok and having Tennant give voice to Scrooge was pretty good to.

Leaking GOT-episodes, it seems to happen so often now I'm starting to believe it's on purpose to increase the hype. Personally I can wait until Sunday or whenever I'll have time to watch it.

It most certainly does not look like that. If that was their intent, then they failed.

I never find time to watch Game of Thrones. I spend all day Sunday wondering what's on The Strain tonight. Make a GoT/Strain crossover spinoff starring Quinlan and I'll watch it.

I'd prioritize watching The Strain over GOT to, while Quinlan is an interesting character I'm mostly watching it to find out what Eichhorst will do next.

I don't watch Game of Thrones (I tried once; it was briefly interesting but not fascinating such as would have invited a second viewing)...

That said, I kind of understand about the watching online and wanting to watch early, because, I think it was season 6 of Stargate SG-1 that had about half the season air on Sky One in the UK before American cable ever showed it. Resulting in conversations like:

TV: Tonight! All New Stargate SG-1!
Random person: Oh, good, there's a new Stargate on.
Online-watching-fan: Ah, saw this on a couple weeks ago, Jonas was fascinated by watching the planet Earth's weather reports...

    Good times.

That's what I was wondering.. One doesn't really get a sense of what GoT is really going to be like until that last episode of Season 1. That's when things get real. I also believe it's hard to comprehend how nuanced the whole GoT universe is without having read the books (which I would highly recommend, except it's looking less and less like Martin will ever finish the series).

That is all that's stopping me from reading the books. It is sad, but I don't think he is going to finish that universe ever. I would not be surprised if he died tomorrow due to a heart attack.

Did you watch the full season 1?

I watched an episode, with a few family members who were all-out Game of Thrones fans and who insisted that I "gotta" watch, how could I not.

I remember something about a chick with three baby dragons hatching from eggs, and people who tended to have their conversations while dressing or undressing. I remember not understanding any of it until the fans of the show said "Oh yeah, those two did so and so and so it's interesting because this" or "see, neither one means what they are saying, they both have hidden agendas" and the like.

Sort of like trying to watch a random episode of a soap opera and not knowing any of the characters nor what's going on.

I am sure it's super-enjoyable for anyone who likes fantasy or even related genre, but I don't have dozens of hours to spare to watch all I would seem to need to for it to make sense, only then to find out whether the enjoyment would apply to my strange, often off-center taste. Thus, it would not be fair for me to judge the show--its high popularity already does that far better than I could anyway.

The reason it is so popular is because it is lot more human and nuanced than normal fantasy. It is, to me, one of the rare stories that fall under the category of fantasy but don't follow LOTR in absolutely all of the departments. That itself is a very big feat.

Having said that, if you get a day off, try binge watching season 1.

The video was stored on a server and only 4 people had access to its password. That is all it takes to arrest all 4 of them in India and then send them to central jail for upwards 15 days and possible 2-3 months.

The technology company has claimed that it was not hacked, but it is unlikely that all 4 of its employee collaborated to leak a shitty version of its video.

What it really looks like is that Prime Focus Technologies doesn't want to own its lack of security and would rather see 4 of its innocent employees have their career and life ruined to save the face of upper management.

If I have to guess, given how corrupt Indian judiciary is, even the judge has been bribed amply.
