The Norwegian Competition Authorities has fined Norway's largest telecoms provider Telenor 788 million kroner ($96 million) for abusing its dominant position on the country's mobile market.

The watchdog's director general, Lars Soergard, says Telenor made "a serious infringement of competition law" when creating "barriers for the development of a third mobile network in Norway." The watchdog agency said Telenor introduced amendments to the network access agreement with the intention of limiting further investments in the third mobile network in Norway in 2010.

[...] In a statement, Telenor CEO Berit Svendsen said the group had not violated any laws, adding the group likely would file an appeal.

      Yes, Telenor execs approve!

Only $98M split along 8 years to kill competition, $0.25/month/client. What a bargain!

Here we have the NBN along with anti compete laws preventing ISPs from building their own Fibre networks

Assholes that they are, they are planning on then selling the NBN when it is complete

They have worlds best customer service. I was once forwarded from their frontline support to a dude who admined local Telenor DSLAM and explained to him what he had to do, he did it and problem went away.

Another time, i've asked them to make my xDSL line symmetrical, ten years ago, 10/10 or something like that cos i told them i torrent alot and need the upload bandwidth, and they did it for no extra charge.

The uplink through them is stable, no throttling, no fitering, and an actual real routable to from outside IP address on a residential line as default (in this country; no idea about others)

Also. so far they have been really chill with portscanning, running a yacy instance and such.

As an ISP, for me, they have been rather nice.

If they provide this level of service in other geographical areas of operation that they do on the old Cybercity's network, i don't have a problem with competition being kept out.
