In a law implemented last year, Georgia's 'Exact Match' requirement flags voters who have discrepancies in their official identifying documents and may be non-citizens.

As originally written, at the actual polling location, only Deputy Registrars could immediately clear individuals to vote (provisional ballots could still be cast). This was deemed burdensome in U.S. District Court and now Poll Managers can also clear individuals to vote who show proof of citizenship.

The announcement of this change is here: http://sos.ga.gov/index.php/general/judge_includes_poll_managers_in_georgias_existing_non-citizen_verification_process_

Voters were notified in advance of discrepancies and multiple avenues to resolve the issue are available, including:

- in advance by faxing or emailing documents to the county registrar
- when balloting, providing documentation to a Deputy Registrar (or Poll Manager now)
- If the above are an issue, an individual can cast a provisional ballot and provide the proof of citizenship (in person, via fax, email, or text message) before Friday.

Yup, he is a slimy asshole who pushes around his guests and plays the party politics game to decide right/wrong. I forget if it was him or one of his panels but someone gave a little dose of reality and the reply was "we hate Trump too, we're on the same side".

Ewwwww. I mean I get trump hate, but that type of party politics is what prevents real change from happening. Corporate interests buy enough politicians and the rest fall in with the party line.

All that said, I don't think he is actually as bad as Beck, O'Reilly, or Limbaugh. Like the rest of politics the "both sides" equivocation is bullshit. Democrats have plenty to be blamed for but they don't even come close to the Republican level of evil and that is mirrored with Maher / O'Reilly. Of course I haven't seen enough of Maher to know if he's reached the same levels of hate preaching, so just my opinion.

This year, in response to the Democrat's attempts to reignite the cold war and increase the chance of global thermonuclear armageddon with their #RussiaRussiaRussia tantrum -- I went ahead and voted a straight GOP ticket out pure unadulterated spite. I mean yeah, the GOP sucks, and I normally either protest vote or vote third party, but Democrats are being stupid and falling all over themselves trying to blow up the planet because shocker -- when you run a corrupt, arrogant, hated candidate who has nothing to offer but war with Syria/Russia and a TPP kick in the ass, don't be surprised if you lose.

Democrats could win by the cargo-ship load if they really pushed people-focused rather than corporate/bankster/wallstreet/MIC/pharma/insurance-focused policy but then those who own the Dems would be mad, so they don't do anything but grandstand or introduce such legislation at the precise times it can't go anywhere -- marketing ploy.

Why are you Republicans allergic to facts these days? Your party has gone batshit insane. I've voted split ticket all my life, but there are simply no qualified Republicans on my ballot.

An example is my congresscritter, Rodney Davis. I voted for him, but not again. Ever since I voted for him he voted against me and my state. Voted yes to repeal ACA and now is trying to say it's Democrats who want to take away the coverage for existing conditions. He voted yes on the tax bill that helps the likes of Rauner and Pritzker, did absolutely nothing for my taxes, and hurt a lot of Illinoians who can no longer deduct state and local taxes on the federal tax.

McConnel says they want Medicare and Social Security to pay for the rich folks' tax cut. The Republicans have gone full-on "all for the rich, nothing for anyone else." They might as well change their name to the Plutocratic party. All Republicans with less than $200k in the bank are fools.

Clinton did her best to campaign for extra votes in places it didn't matter -- she could have taken a shit on the sidewalk with the stars embedded it in at won CA -- and ignored states that mattered. The EC is no secret and if a candidate can't use it for guidance, that tells us a lot about the candidate.

And let us also recall that Clinton too only won a plurality. Her plurality was larger than Trump's in ways that are irrelevant, but neither candidate got a majority. In other words, it is true to say the majority of Americans did not vote for Clinton and the majority did not vote for Trump.

Lastly, I voted for Stein -- clearly I'm not a Republican. And while usually I'm satisfied with protest voting, Democrats have demonstrated that they are dangerous -- as in nuclear war dangerous in order to avoid taking responsibility for running a shit candidate -- so I was not content simply to not support them, I felt the need to actively vote against them. You can chide me for being against nuclear war all you want, but I see that issue as trumping all other issues. WTF is it with "Imma voting this way to SPITE EM!!!" ? You reward the shitty GOP with your vote because a lot of people who oppose them are calling attention to the fact that our current administration just might be a bit too cozy with Putin and Co.? And you think that somehow this is going to cause WWIII?

Because the Democrats are no better and helping them win rather than fade away does nothing to help the current mess. The DNC needs true reform or replacement and until that happens, voting DNC ensures the future is worse, not better.

Ah, the old "they are just as bad" argument. Sure, the Democrats do bad stuff (the 2016 primaries are a great example), but somehow they can't hold a candle to what the GOP does on a regular basis. The GOP's true mantra is "I have mine; Fuck You" and they will not make things better, short or long term (unless you make over $250K of course).

I say it is the GOP that needs to be removed first. Getting rid of their opposition will simply give them the opportunity to consolidate their power, and that much harder to eliminate. The Democrats are relatively easy to break up provided there isn't a strong opponent to unite them against.

Why should a federal government, one that cares non whit about my existence, be expected to get things pedantically correct when the private sector, something that lives and dies on being more efficient, supposedly, can't even get my identity correct.

Some years ago, when applying for citizenship, I found that the "A" number on my green card was not correct. Another person in our small office found that his date of birth was wrong.

Differences in names are more prevalent in non-english names. The purpose of the exact match rule was vote suppression.

Some people want to vote for the party that is actively engaged in disenfranchising significant portions of the citizenry of the USA. What do they think the end result of that will be (hint: remember the "first they came for ...." tale)?
