[...] The data was leaked from a Twitter account, since suspended, and included email addresses, phone numbers, photo IDs and other personal data on hundreds of senior political figures.

According to a government spokesperson, there was no “sensitive” data from the chancellor’s office, but other lawmakers had more personal data stolen. Other portions of the leaked data included Facebook and Twitter passwords. Some had their credit card information stolen, and chat logs and private letters published in the breach.

13 years of stagnant government under Angela "Neuland" Merkel, they had already taken it in the butt before by the NSA, but today they were trying to blame people in the AfD because none (not much?) of their data got leaked.

Perhaps they just had better OpSec.

Anyone got mirrors of the stuff?

Trump just denied he was involved, so that pretty much guarantees it was Russia.

It appears that all of the main political parties in Germany were affected except for the far-right Alternative for Germany [theguardian.com] admired by Nigel Farage and suppored by that nice Mr Putin.

So obviously Russia and the alt-wrong had nothing at all to do with it.

If, hypothetically, Merklol were a Reptilian Space Alien (or worse) and disclosure were getting close, then a counter-leak of avast amount of fake data implying she's merely a communist suicide cult member, which is her existing public persona, would be the logical response. Sort of like a counter-fire tactic when fighting forest fires.

The situation being logical and reasonable yet having no proof is a standard conspiracy theory situation.

Obviously the "Reptilian Space Alien" above is hyperbole and not an implied criticism that actual space aliens are as evil as Merkel. A situation thats bad but more terrestrial is more realistic; maybe she's as pedo as a Catholic priest.

I haven't thought about it much, but Mutti is head of the CDU, which doesn't do touchy-feely things (that's what the Green Party is for). She wouldn't allow Syrians into the country for humanitarian reasons. She would allow them into the country to mess with Germany's powerful trade unions.

That sincerely is an interesting idea, but the CDU has been governing with the SPD mostly during her tenure. To the degree that both SPD and CDU have moved to wishy-washy centrist politics and not competing on issues anymore.
The AfD and Left have appeared to address the voters in those parts of the spectrum the two major parties used to cover, but the AfD seems to be more successful. I am unsure whether they have objectively received more votes, or subjectively because the MSM gives them so much coverage, constantly trying to equate them with racists and nazis.

I forgot to mention that the SPD was the traditional labor party. As part of its pivot to the "new left" in the 90s, it had already sold out labor protections by the time they lost the chancellorship in 2005.

She wouldn't allow Syrians into the country for humanitarian reasons.

Sometimes, context isn't good enough. I read that as, "It would be inhumane to allow Syrians to immigrate into Germany, where they would be forced to live with Germans."

Germans are alright as long as you don't try to be friendly or suggest they try american beer.

There is no "American" beer. Some small craft beers might qualify, but none of the big names. Not by a wide margin. So, kids, please don't talk to grownups about the beer you have no knowledge of. For a first introduction of the subject, visit Mexico. Their beers are not at all bad. And it's _beer_, for starters!

Americans being friendly is OK, actually. It's just when they are starting to liberate your country that you gotta be extra careful ...
