Presidential candidate Andrew Yang will use 3D holograms for remote rallies

Democratic presidential candidate Andrew Yang revealed this week that he's planning to use a 3D hologram to hold campaign rallies in multiple cities at the same time. Yang discussed the hologram during an appearance on TMZ Live. The segment showed off a hologram version of Yang dancing and performing with the famous Tupac hologram that appeared at Coachella in 2012.

[...] Yang plans to use the hologram, broadcast from the back of a truck, to deliver a recorded version of his stump speech to crowds in battleground states. Yang would set up in a studio and remotely beam into the rally to answer questions live and in real-time after the speech finished. The technique could save Yang, a longshot for the Democratic nomination at this point, a considerable amount of travel costs while helping to rally supporters and generate interest in key areas.

In the future, all politicians will attend events exclusively as holograms, beamed from their studios in Elysium.

Andrew Yang.

His point is to implement UBI. It only makes sense if you get rid of all the other stuff. During the 2008 aftermath it was almost impossible for the government to even get control of fannie mae and freddie mac, Bush didn't believe it was even possible but was proven wrong by Paulson. How does he plan on surgically removing all these other parasistic tentacles of the state (if he told you he would have to kill you)? Or is UBI supposed to be on top of it, in which case it is just another tax?

You can read the details of Yang's plan for UBI on his website [yang2020.com]. Specifically, the "How would we pay for Universal Basic Income?" section answers your question. His plan is to fund it with a 10% VAT and make UBI vs. existing welfare programs be a choice (i.e. no one gets both).

Idiotic. VAT is finally paid by the consumers, everything on the production/distribution line gets deduced.
Which makes VAT a regressive tax. Which means robbing Peter to pay Peter - 'cause 1%-er Paul ain't gonna pay a lot. That's not a real wealth redistribution!

So his solution is more taxes, and "no one gets both" but "both" still exist. In other words, people will get "both" in a few years and the taxes will stay raised.

Well, the first thing is to round up all the parasites on Wall St. Beheadings for all, and stick their heads on pikes as a warning to those who would follow in their footsteps. Then, we move on to the military-industrial-congressional parasites. Same deal, beheadings for all, and stick their heads on the same pikes. Next, the religious tax-exempt parasites get the same treatment. Now we've got shish-kebobs of the most egregious parasites, which should make the others fall in line.

His point is to implement UBI.

And my point is that UBI is an idiotic idea. When are you morons going to finally get the clue and realize that our corporate overlords will never hand out free stuff to the unwashed masses? And even if they were dumb enough to try it, it would end up being an unmitigated economic disaster. Unfortunately, the future is far more likely to be "Hunger Games" than UBI. Seriously, some of you younger folks would probably do best if you stay in good physical shape so that you have the best possibility of surviving in the gladiator ring; you have a much better chance with that strategy than begging the 1%-ers for UBI. I just hope I am long dead before this shit hits the fan.

It only makes sense if you get rid of all the other stuff.

Actually, it only begins to makes sense if you get rid of the UBI part of his platform. Just sayin'.

He would either be the youngest or second youngest president to win an election, if he won this time around. I doubt he has any real chance. The reason Trump won is, because he was already Famous. I've heard nothing about Yang in politics until now and nothing about him otherwise. He's not likely to be popular enough to win.

President Trump enjoyed a lot of free airtime. Yang would get some of that if he became the nominee, and would likely get no less than 45% of the vote regardless. Dem anger and Republican fatigue could cause Yang to win by default. Of course, Trump can still win in 2020 no matter who the Democratic nominee is.

The real hurdle is the primary/caucus race where Yang has 15-20 viable opponents and Bernie Sanders is apparently the frontrunner. Bernie has his camp, Hillary's camp could go to one of the 3+ women in the race, and Yang has some memelords and maybe a few Bernie bros. If Biden doesn't get completely #MeToo'd and decides to run, he could be near the front. Other fringe candidates in the race have better name recognition than Yang.
