Phys.org:

"agreeable individuals use Facebook to express their orientation to other people rather than to themselves," whereas "extroverts use Facebook as a relationship building mechanism". They add that neurotic people strive to bring out the best of themselves. Oddly, the personality traits of openness and conscientiousness do not seem to affect significantly Facebook use.

The bottom line is that extraversion is the main driver for Facebook use. Extroverts are heavy users and have more friends and interact with them and others at a higher rate. But, neurotic people also use it heavily to create a comprehensive and detailed profile of themselves to present to the public.

Betteridge says, "no."

You know, I’ll talk it over. And he can really be a very good sounding board. A lot of common sense. He’s got a good grasp. I ask, how many people do I have? He always knows. When I was running, I knew that Hillary had 28 people. And I had Dan. They used to say that we ran an unsophisticated campaign. And after we won, they said we ran one of the most sophisticated campaigns ever. Our Country would be in ABSOLUTE TATTERS if my opponent (and yours), Crooked Hillary Clinton, had ever won!

Phys.org should be avoided. The article actually comes from www.inderscience.com and is a paid service. Only available to subscribers or users at subscribing institutions.

Now, facebook has only been around a while and will probably be replaced by something else in a few years. This means TFA is locked in a time interval and will become irrelevant quite soon.

Social media might be around a while in some form or another. But facebook may not.

And if you can think for yourself, you may not be a good subject to become a facebook user. It is spyware and is designed to divide people, focusing on and expanding their differences... making them feel special. Fucking snowflakes. Each one is special in some way. But there is nothing to celebrate. They all live meaningless lives and will die without a show.

Don't forget "too big to fail". I don't really think Facebook has reached critical mass, but then, I don't know the exact formula. There are variables that need to be identified, and put into the equation. Who is he paying off, who is he performing deviant sexual acts on, who does he own outright, and who is doing his wife, are all important variables. Does he have offspring? I've never heard. If he is whoring them to the right people, then, yes, Facebook is too big to fail.

Too big to fail was the people with real money playing us. Then putting interest rates at 0 for 10 years so they can get their profit out of those companies through loans given back in dividends. Look for in the next 10 years some of those 'too big to fail' to do just that. The capital has been extracted and put elsewhere. Facebook is not even on that list of too big to fail. He fucked up in 2016 big time and let Trump win. The DNC will not forget him. So they have picked censorship. They are 1 celebrity away from censoring the wrong person causing a major shitstorm of an investigation. At which point people will start ignoring the platform even more and move on. They are already having trouble hiring even H1Bs... People do not want to work there anymore. It is not a desirable place.

Don't forget diversification. Facebook has more than just the one pie, and many people don't realize that their favorite platform is just Facebook in disguise. I haven't bothered to look to see how Facebook might be diversifying outside of the social media world.

For me at first it was fun reconnecting with people I had not seen in 30 years. But then I realized wait there was a reason I did not talk to them anymore and avoided them. They were complete asses and now they had a platform to show it off. The people I got along with I had already made a point of staying connected to using other means.

Online communities come and go but they never totally die. Take this site for example. It is mostly a fracture of an existing community. The 'we hate material design on slashdot' community ;)
