He was no Alan Rickman but he was a better actor than a large majority of the folks he ever shared screen time with.

Robert Walker Jr., best known for a classic early Star Trek episode and as the son of Hollywood stars Robert Walker and Jennifer Jones, died Thursday in Malibu, according to family members. He was 79.

The New York native portrayed the twitchy, callow title character in “Charlie X,” the second episode of Star Trek’s pioneering first season in 1966, and also handled the title role of the notable 1960s feature films Ensign Pulver and Young Billy Young.

Damn, now who will she reenact her rape-scenes with? Well, Michael Dorn and Jonathan Frakes are still alive, last I checked.

Real pity he's gone. His impression of a bird was truly outstanding.

He is also the easiest actor to replace via cgi because half the work is cgi already, so I guess we will hear from odo in the future. Even you meatbags - if you can make it to the future.

      Sort of a shallow fake?

But I liked his characterizations generally that I saw. Not just Odo but also as Clayton Endicott III.

I'll never forget the Mad Magazine parody [ebayimg.com] of DS9, in which Odo's character is instead named "Odor." There's a panel where he morphs into a door so that Jadzia Dax can keep "pulling him off" (implying that he morphed his dick into the doorknob). Then Jadzia gives up and says something like, "this door won't open, I'm gonna have to kick the doorknob!" showing Odor sneakily morphing away in fear.

Besides that, Odo was probably my most favorite character besides Quark (though post-monkey Sisko was pretty badass once they gave him the Shaft [media-amazon.com] makeover).
