Singapore releases the robot hounds to enforce social distancing in parks:
Singapore is trialing robot dogs to enforce social distancing in its parks, to assist the national coronavirus-control effort.
As outlined by GovTech Singapore, the nation's digital advancement agency, the beast is a Boston Dynamics Spot device that's been programmed to roam a 3km stretch in the River Plains section of Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park during off-peak hours.
"A recorded message will be broadcast from SPOT to remind park visitors to observe safe distancing measures. SPOT will also be fitted with cameras – enabled with GovTech-developed video analytics – to estimate the number of visitors in parks," the agency says.
Govtech promises the cameras "will not be able to track and/or recognise specific individuals, and no personal data will be collected."

Awhile ago I posted that there was an embarrassing software bug that caused the Spot family of robots to bark uncontrollably at Black people. Of course I no longer work there, but I can tell you that we were unable to fix that embarrassing bug, which led to the company laying off their only Black diversity hire for "unrelated reasons."
As you can see from Their careers page, [bostondynamics.com] there are no people of African origin or otherwise darker than a paper grocery bag now working there. The only 2 employees in the picture who even come close are Ramon "Chunky" Garcia and Chamroeun "Rat-stache" Chansongkmethmthapay. Man, I miss working with those guys. Chunky made the best salsa I've tasted to this day. If every construction site had its own Spot robot patrolling around then we wouldn't have Obama holdovers trying to racebait the fuck out of all those Ahmaud Arberys out there to cause a chimpout to distract from Obamagate.

No it cannot, but being a former employee who worked on the Spot series of robots I know what can put the hurt on it. Squirting a lot of JB weld or other strong fast-curing epoxy all over the hip and shoulder joints will jack it up and be a huge bitch in repair costs and labor. You can use a highly viscous and/or preferably metallic quick-drying gloop to blind the sensors, but that is also easier said than done because of the numerous sensor arrays located all over the body.
But the single-greatest threat to the civilian model of Spot robot is one or more angry Blacks with baseball bats. Blacks love to enjoy congregating at parks, and hate being told what to do. They'll grab a motherfucking spot robot by the legs and bodyslam that bitch all over a concrete park table.

I can't say I know of any existing video of anybody bodyslamming a Spot-series robot. I do know that it is humanly possible with multiple people or by one man with sufficient musculature and motivation.
What videos do exist, though, are those of naked Black men on PCP getting tazed and then shot a few times with a nine-mil before casually turning around and walking away like nothing happened. Of course, they end up collapsing not too long afterward, but still, never underestimate the raw energy output of men made angry because they were harassed by a goddamn robot for sitting too close to their friends drinking Carlo Rossi at the park. Singapore has penis-envy when it comes to facial recognition software used by China. When I was there, they kept talking how they must close the facial recognition gap. And if you were in Singapore recently, you would notice ungodly amount of cameras everywhere.
So when they say "will not be able to track and/or recognise specific individuals, and no personal data will be collected.", I take that with a big grain of low-sodium salt. If anything, this is a technology limit they can't work around yet, but coming in a few months.
