Microsoft is dropping PHP support from Windows:
PHP 8.0 is due for release in November, but when this major new version appears Windows will not support it.
The company says that bug fixes and security patches will continue to be released for the lifecycles of PHP versions 7.2, 7.3 and 7.4. But when the latest version is released later this year, Microsoft will "not [...] be supporting PHP for Windows in any capacity for version 8.0 and beyond".
[...] No reason has been given for the decision, but it is likely to be down to number of users.

PHP, the millenial version of Perl, but even less useful.
Hate them both. Death is too good for both of them.

I used to be a sad depressed person taking my anger at life out on others, but Jesus showed me the way. Compassion and love are the only way to build a strong community.
May you find a place to call home and help heal those emotional wounds.

LOL, says the hater.
1) PHP & Perl are incredibly fucking useful. Say what you want, but I can get tremendous amounts of shit done in PHP, and have. How much right now is being run by PHP? How many sysadmin scripts out there in Perl were executed by a CRON job in the last 1 second?
Not useful my ass :)
I use PHP, and hate some of the shit about it. No doubt about its failings. That being said, I can get shit done. Is it as super fucking tight as Catalyst running on OpenBSD? No. Yet, more money than you will ever make in your life was just made by people who are using PHP as the underpinnings of their platforms.
As for Perl, detractors can eat the peanuts out of my shit. I can't say much about whatever the fuck Perl 6 is, but Perl 5 is a joy for me to work with. Not everything has to be a one-liner, and a journey in self masochism. Ohhhh, and Perl don't give a fuck about your whitespace. Indent whatever way you fucking want.
Last I checked....... CPAN hasn't been compromised as much as Python repositories have. You know, those external 3rd party dependencies nobody really checks? :) If Python was a whore, it would be crack whore that takes diseased puss leaking penises like they had the cure for cancer.
By all means though, give me your reasoned detractions for Perl. Not PHP, I will readily stipulate to whatever stupidity you state (Still useful though)

That too but MS won't be there to answer any daft questions one might have for software they didn't write, assuming there was ever a critical mass of PHP admins on Windows Server in the first place.

did PHP stop supporting Windows? I would be amused by such a headline.

Nope, PHP will continue to be intrinsically insecure on every OS (secure or not) that it is on now.
MS will just no longer provide official support for PHP's insecurities - I wasn't even aware that they did, would've figured they had more than enough insecurity of their own making to support.

It's an awesome language for the internet of 1998.
But... What does it have to do with Microsoft? Microsoft does not develop PHP. And Microsoft doesn't really have market share in web servers, although IIS does technically still exist. What support exactly are they removing?

From BleepingComputer:
For some possibly missing context, Microsoft runs https://windows.php.net [php.net] and produces all the official builds of PHP for Windows.
If you run `php.exe`, or `mod_php7.dll` or whatever the websapi versions are actually called, then you either use Microsoft's own builds of PHP or you're compiling it yourself.
This message means Microsoft aren't going to produce official builds for PHP 8 onwards.
This message does NOT mean that nobody will.
