The US Food and Drug Administration is making progress in its efforts to sort out the fiasco at Emergent BioSolutions' Baltimore facility, which, at this point, has ruined more than 75 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines stemming from what the regulator identified as significant quality control failures.
In March, news leaked that Emergent ruined 15 million doses of Johnson & Johnson's vaccine as well as millions more doses of AstraZeneca's vaccine. The spoilage happened when Emergent cross-contaminated batches of the two vaccines with ingredients from the other.
Last week, the FDA told Emergent to trash about 60 million more doses of Johnson & Johnson's vaccine due to similar contamination concerns, The New York Times reported.
[...] FDA cleared an additional 15 million doses of Johnson & Johnson's vaccine, bringing the total number of acceptable doses to just 25 million, according to The Wall Street Journal.

What is missing is that they banned them from working on both vaccines. So now they can only work on the J&J one and cannot do anything with Astra. It will be difficult to call any future fuckup an 'accident'
Like if you are a cook, and you fuckup the toast and eggs by adding the salt to the toast and sugar on the egg. So now they are demoted to only work on the toast and nothing else. You don't have to throw them out of the kitchen as you still need cooks. It's all about QA anyway.

It's not just that, they had a whole string of major fuckups there and should have been shut down entirely. To use your analogy, if your cook is working in a facility with rat droppings on the floor, maggots in the congealed grease around the fryer, mould on the utensils, and a rotten smell coming from the food locker then it doesn't matter whether they're making eggs or toast or whatever, you don't want to eat there.

Maybe, but I have had a vaccination and I haven't developed autism, I am not infertile and I am not expecting a heart attack.
