Hydrogen Peroxide E-Bandages Treat Wound Infections:

According to new research by investigators at the Mayo Clinic and Washington State University, e-bandages could be an effective alternative to antibiotics for managing wound infections. The findings are presented at ASM Microbe 2022, the annual meeting of the American Society for Microbiology.

In a recent study conducted in mice, novel hydrogen peroxide producing bandages with electrical/chemical properties (electro-chemical bandages or e-bandages), under the control of wearable voltage devices, reduced methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) biofilm bacteria present in the wound by 99% after 2 days of treatment.

[...] Hydrogen peroxide solution is used to clean wounds. Although hydrogen peroxide has antibacterial and wound healing properties, hydrogen peroxide solution is unstable chemically and therefore, its effects are short-lived. Dr. Raval and colleagues have developed e-bandages to continuously produce hydrogen peroxide as a treatment of wound infections.

"Specifically, we have developed and examined antibacterial properties of a novel kind of bandage which continuously produces hydrogen peroxide through application of a specific negative voltage," said Dr. Raval.

Hydrogen peroxide will not allow healthy clotting, unless this is for serious wound care cases where preventing infection is more important for some diabetic or immuno-compromised person?

Don't use hydrogen peroxide on your regular cuts, or at least not past the initial cleaning stage of wound care.

I was perplexed by the hydrogen peroxide. Maybe it works differently in this delivery method or the tradeoffs are worth it to prevent infections.

That's what i thought: pour it, cover the wound.

It's not brain surgery... unless it is???

Not to mention that it can bleach the skin. One time over the top is probably not an issue, but there's better stuff for that, like iodine.

I've used hydrogen peroxide for wound care - particularly grazes from cycling. The fizzing helps get dirt out and the bleaching helps with anything left in. Really stings, though. (And don't use lab grade 100%, 6% stuff is fine.)

Just irrigate the wound with clean water. If you're a cyclist, you should have plenty of that on you unless you poison it with "hydration solutions".

H2O2 is a bad idea. It kills "germs" sure but it kills your cells too. Don't use peroxide, use disinfectant. Soap, water, your brain.

    e-bandage repair my e-wound?
And if an e-bandage gets e-damaged, can I use an e-bandage to e-repair another e-bandage?
    or
If my e-wound is e to the nth in size will it have parity with e to the nth e-bandages alowing the creation of an e-body?

That's a great idea. They will sell bajillions of these e-Bandages, even if they are infinitely worse than a regular bandage. Ohh, look, alerts from your bandage!
