The folks at Peto's Travel Center and Casino in Roanoke, Louisiana see all kinds of vehicles pull up, but Tuesday night was different. What ended up in their parking lot is certainly something of a mystery, to say the least.
Someone left a Russian T-90A tank, which open source intelligence (OSINT) trackers say was captured by Ukraine last fall, on a trailer after the truck hauling it broke down and pulled into this truck stop off U.S. Interstate 10. An employee at Peto's, and the individual who first posted the images on Reddit, shared them with The War Zone.

It's destined for the Red River Army Depot, in Hooks, Texas. Tanks, amphibs, and assorted other mobile equipment ships to RRAD regularly.
I suppose they'll tear it down, maybe learn something, maybe eventually scrap it. Unless they've entered into some kind of repair agreement between the US Army and Ukraine. That's a long way to ship a tank for repairs, though.
Second guess, would be some rich redneck in Louisiana got a helluva bargain on a slightly used tank? His kid needed a ride to school.

It wasn't in syndicated re-runs where you were? That's how I saw all the earlier episodes. Of course this was DC metro, a big enough market to actually have stations independent from the 3 major networks. They licensed a lot of syndicated re-runs and old movies rather than produce original content.

I watched the first season of Stargate (SG1, I think) and while it was enjoyable... there's just other things to do in life. I forget how many followup seasons and reboots Stargate has, whatever it is, it's daunting.
I do believe I have "completed" Star Trek TNG and Enterprise, and of course the original and the movies (rewatched the latest reboot movies many times), but DS9, Voyager, I've seen a few, they're not bad, but please... and now Picard, and I just learned about Discovery? Life is waaay too short.

Many of the best episodes of SG-1 were in the first season anyway, rather atypically.
SG-1, Atlantis was still fun, Universe was a bit too modern and gritty for my tastes but still okay...I've heard they later did a sort of webisode miniseries prequel that sucked that I haven't seen. And there were rumors last year about a potential new series being greenlit, but it didn't happen.
They concluded SG-1 with a couple movies, which was supposed to happen for Atlantis and Universe as well, but neither of them got their conclusion movie. The crew of the Destiny will forever be in suspended animation limbo I guess :/

I wouldn't say that the best are in season 1. Season 2 easily has some of the most iconic early episodes. But there are enjoyable episodes throughout the entirety of SG-1. Seasons 6/9/10 are more debatable because of the cast and other changes.
Atlantis carried on the SG-1 dream team formula to an extent, so it's an easy watch for someone who loved SG-1.
I think either the pandemic, Amazon buying MGM, or both killed a potential new series by the original showrunners. You should be able to find a lot written about it on GateWorld [gateworld.net]. I would keep my hopes very low for any satisfying continuation or reboot.

I heard about the Flanigan attempt several years after the story was recounted, like you.
There's been a strong international Stargate fandom of indeterminate size. They've been subsisting on crumbs and slop for years.
More recently, SG-1/Atlantis/SGU co-creator Brad Wright started talking about a potential revival in 2019 (Stargate Origins came out in 2018, without his involvement). Then COVID happened, disrupting a lot of entertainment productions and impacting MGM hard, and MGM was acquired by Amazon.
Now we're looking at a potential reboot according to Deadline this week [deadline.com]. I'm not sure why anyone in the fandom would want the SG-1/Atlantis lore thrown into the garbage, other than a few scattered die hard fans of the 1994 film. Sounds like another lazy, demoralizing cash grab/burn (if it flops, creative accounting kicks in).

If I recall correctly that story line was lifted more or less straight from Joseph Heller's book, Catch-22, as was much of the material in later episodes of the series. The book is a long read but well written and well-worth it especially because it had a fairly strong impact on culture and society.

Same thing has happened in the past, the details are a bit fuzzy since it was decades ago but folks in some small suburb woke up to find a Russian MBT parked in the street outside their houses. What had happened was that it was being transported to an army base for testing and analysis and started to slide off the flatbed it was on. Rather than risk this happening on the freeway at speed the driver dropped it off in a quiet back street and drove off to find a payphone to call the base for assistance.

It's not like an old tank, trackable through OSINT, needs expensive clandestine handling, delivery in the dark of night to a secure port and ground transport in closed container with security convoy.
This, actually, could be a deliberate slight to Russia: "Yeah, sure, we've got one of your captured tanks, yeah we're going to tear it down and see what you're up to, but f-if-we-care who knows about it - we'll ship it by some old-ass commercial tractor trailer and leave it unattended in a truck stop when it breaks down because we don't worry about people in our country messing around with your captured tank, even unattended on the side of the road and virally posted on the internet."
I doubt that an M1 Abrams similarly left unattended Chirikovo would last too long before it started being stripped for salvage and trophies.
