'Ducking hell' to disappear from Apple autocorrect:

Apple has said it will no longer automatically change one of the most common swear words to 'ducking'.

The autocorrect feature, which has long frustrated users, will soon be able to use AI to detect when you really mean to use that expletive.

"In those moments where you just want to type a ducking word, well, the keyboard will learn it, too," said software boss Craig Federighi.

He announced the development at Apple's developers' conference in California.

iPhone users have often complained about how autocorrect forces them to rewrite their own messages - with the term "damn you autocorrect" becoming an acronym, a meme, an Instagram account and even a song.

[...] Initially flagged in a 2017 paper from Google, transformers are some of the most powerful classes of AI models, and autosuggest - or predictive text - systems are beginning to become more mainstream.

The autocorrect change will be part of the iOS 17 operating system upgrades which are expected to be available as a public beta in July, with the general release in September.

iOS? Yea. Get a real computer. With a real (non rainbow-led backlit) keyboard. And get a real spell checker that does not change anything unless YOU tell it to.

If I were pecking away at a toy Apple iPhone, it would have auto replaced all of this text with "All praise Apple and their glorious iPhone!"

What about Buck Feta? Is that still valid? To have an auto-correct change your words tho just cause it doesn't want you to "offend" is iffy at best. It's supposed to correct spelling errors. I am fairly certain that if I type "fucking hell" I wasn't talking about ducks. Correct the error if there was one, suggest other words if it can, but don't change what I wrote. It's the same with most of the other various auto-correct or auto-fill functions on phones. It suggests the weirdest things and sometimes it just plops it in there, or so it seems, and you don't really notice but just keep typing and then a few moments after you hit send you notice it and wonder what they hell ...

Fucking Ducks or Ducking Fucks? How will that be auto-corrected or is that just some kind of big syntax error in the auto-correct mainframe?

    They removed a bug.

Because that's technically what this is, a behaviour that is not according to the expected. Because I expect my autocorrect to correct mistakes I made. I don't expect it to make mistakes out of correct things I type.

The price for that change is INSANELY low, but not as insane as our prices at Sofa King. Come on down!

More like AutoIncorrect. I don't use an iPhone, but one of the first things to get shut off on my Androids is the autocorrect 'feature'. I'd spend more time uncorrecting what autoincorrect fucked up.

    Warning: bad words ahead

Apple's censorship is all over the place. The censoring rules in Apple Music search are terribly inconsistent. They censor cum as in "C*m on Feel the noise", blowjob (B*****b), dipshit (D*****t), fucked (f****d), faggot, (F****t), and cunt(c**t), but they don't censor Blow Job, shit, Dip Shit, fuck, cock, faggots, fucking ("We are Fucking F****d"), and Anal Cunt.

On top of that it seems only songs are censored; those words appear whole without any *'s in album names and band names.

Seems you, and possibly the ghost of George Carlin, have done some extensive research. Still are there really a lot of such songs, bands and/or albums? It would seem to be very genre specific or some far out old punk bands. I guess there could be a certain rap segment to.

You sure that's Apple doing the censoring? I have plenty of Apple Music songs that are not censored. The music labels, however, do often make multiple versions of songs available because they broadcast them on the radio.

It's autoCORRUPT. Have any of you any proof that it has ever corrected an actual mistake and not corrupted what you intended to say?

BTW, I hear autocorrupt's inventor died. May he roast in piss.

Autocorrect can be useful, but generally it gets in the way more than it helps.
