Tonight, @FLOTUS and I tested positive for COVID-19. We will begin our quarantine and recovery process immediately. We will get through this TOGETHER!

A report from c|net adds:

White House physician Dr. Sean Conley said in a memorandum late Thursday that the president and first lady were "both well at this time, and they plan to remain at home within the White House during their convalescence."

The announcement of the president and first lady's positive coronavirus test results came just hours after the revelation that top White House aide Hope Hicks had tested positive for the virus as well. The president indicated in an earlier tweet that he and the first lady had begun the quarantine process.

Hope Hicks, who has been working so hard without even taking a small break, has just tested positive for Covid 19. Terrible! The First Lady and I are waiting for our test results. In the meantime, we will begin our quarantine process!

This is obviously just another step in the evil Democrats' plan to stop Mein Fuhrer our wonderful president from rooting out all the murderous pedophiles in their midst!

He's already uncovered, arrested and prosecuted so many of these horrible, murderous pedophiles when he set off The Storm [rationalwiki.org].

Even now, Killary, Hussein Obama, Rahm Emmanuel, John Podesta, James Alefantis, Oprah Winfrey and dozens of others are locked up in the dankest cells at Gitmo.

Chuck and Nancy know they're next, which is why they've both fled to Ukraine, which has been completely bought by George Soros and has been trying to discredit our fearless leader and the US's most steadfast friend, the Russian Confederation.

That's an ingesting good question, and the Supreme Court hasn't been very specific about it, but the guess is that the Electoral College would decide. Even if the first round votes are entailed, succeeding rounds if there's no victor on the first round would have the electors free to choose.

In some states, the electors are required by law to cast their vote only for the candidate that won in the state's election. Even where that is not the case, who exactly might they vote for? That assumes that both candidates die between the state's election and the EC formalizing the election. Otherwise, the state elections don't happen and so there are no electors to send to the EC.

First off, it's unlikely, because both Jorgensen (Libertarian) and Hawkins (Green) remain healthy.

Second, my understanding is that under current law, if a president-elect dies, their running mate becomes the new president-elect, and between that and the Electoral College I suspect that would effectively mean that votes for a deceased candidate would be treated as votes for their running mate.

              Yeah, why [vanityfair.com] would [haaretz.com] anybody [washingtonpost.com] think [theguardian.com] that [businessinsider.com]?

My general impression of his opinions on Jewish people:
              1. He fully believes the anti-Semitic stereotypes about Jews, such as associating Jews with banking and accounting. He definitely encourages and feeds those stereotypes, such as hinting that left-wing opposition to him is all being paid for by George Soros. He doesn't hate them exactly, or at least not so much that he has a problem with a Jew sleeping with his daughter, but he does belief certain things about all Jews whether or not those things are true.

              2. He doesn't see American Jews as Americans, but rather as Israelis in exile. He wants the borders of Israel to expand (at the expense of the Palestinians, and possibly Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, and Syria) so the American Jews can all move there (which, for the record, many of them don't want to do). It's worth pointing out that this idea is fueled at least as much by evangelical Christian belief as by anything Jews have said.

              3. He considers anti-Semitism to not be hatred of Jews, but opposition to the plan described in the previous point, even if that opposition is fueled by thinking that allowing a country to expand their borders to provide living space for their ethnic group has led to pretty big problems in the past (something European-descended Jews should know a great deal about), and even if the person or organization expressing that opposition is Jewish.

              4. He has quite consistently refused to condemn people who are openly anti-Semitic. For instance, referring to the guys chanting "Jews will not replace us" as "good people". Or, after the Pittsburgh synagogue shooting, he seemed to think that the problem was that the synagogue hadn't invested in private security. And most recently, he refused to condemn the Proud Boys, whose leader created a video entitled "10 Things I Hate About Jews" which should make it pretty clear where they stand.

They caught and started treating it before symptoms developed thanks to the multiple daily tests they're taking.

About the same as the distinction between HIV and AIDS.

Maybe. The antiviral people claim their stuff will work that way, but there haven't been any experiments prior to this to prove that they're correct, because just about nobody detects it early enough. So it *might* work. But would he be willing to start treatment before symptoms appear?

Where you get that from? COVID19 ward staffers get swabs just as much as the president if not more and are treated following the same procedures.

I haven't heard of any reported trials of antivirals being tried during the early stages of the disease (before symptoms appear). If you have, I'd like a reference to them. During the later stages they aren't that effective, even though they help a bit.

Yeah they probably saw good early results and assumed they managed to prevent the symptoms.

Regardless, he was just admitted to the hospital so he probably still ended up developing some mild symptoms so, in hindsight, OP was right and "convalescence" was a misleading choice of word.
