Pro-Trump rioters breach the US Capitol on historic day in Congress:
Supporters of President Donald Trump breached the US Capitol on Wednesday while Congress was meeting to certify the Electoral College's votes for president and vice president.
The Capitol has been put on lockdown and the certification vote has been paused. Vice President Mike Pence was evacuated from the building. House and Senate leadership is safe and in undisclosed locations, according to a person familiar with the situation.
Congress' counting of electoral votes is typically little more than an afterthought. But this joint session was expected to be a contentious affair that would last late into the evening and possibly on Thursday. Some Republicans are objecting to the count and delaying the inevitable certification of President-elect Joe Biden's win.

(1) Fox News reports Biden's Electoral College victory certified -- hours after Capitol chaos:
The U.S. Congress early Thursday certified the Electoral College vote that gave Democrat Joe Biden his presidential victory -- after a day in Washington that was marred by pro-Trump protesters storming the U.S. Capitol.
Vice President Mike Pence, who had announced he would not overturn the will of voters, confirmed the Biden victory at 3:41 a.m. ET.
Lawmakers had returned to the chamber in an act of defiance, with some Republicans who initially vowed to challenge states' results due to voter fraud concerns announcing they'd instead vote to certify.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., called the breach of the Capitol a "failed insurrection," adding that those who "tried to disrupt our democracy" had not succeeded.

- Meanwhile, calls are mounting for Twitter and Facebook to suspend Trump's accounts.

I've just been reading coverage about this Protest / Riot / Insurrection?? on CNN and elsewhere. Trump encouraged this, and then only recently made his "Time To Go Home" tweet.
I think Congress should immediately Impeach AND Remove him from office TODAY, as soon as is humanly possible. He has encouraged protesters to attack the US Capitol Building, and impede election proceedings.

In case you didn't understand, my reply was a reference to you telling Azuma Hazuki to get back in her box after she commended you for calling out Runaway's continued propagation of fake news. She didn't call for censorship, and I haven't called for censorship. No, it's not treason. It's rioting, destruction of federal property, threatening agents of the federal goverment, possibly insurrection, but it's not treason. Possibly Trump has committed treason, but you'd need to find two witnesses of him agreeing to do a job for Putin, and that's unlikely. (And I'm not sure about that, as we aren't at war with Russia, so calling it an enemy nation rather than just an opponent would need a bit of justification.)

Your argument is circular. We are debating about the right way to view not whether it is viewed differently than the other. Taliban and Russia and China are not enemy countries they ARE rival. Osama was Saudi and eventually died in Pakistan. They are viewed as friendly or not but I am not sure but they are not considered enemies.

If you or anybody else can supply any court of law with any actual evidence of that happening, then those involved should be punished.
So far, there have been dozens of lawsuits asserting all sorts of things, but nobody has been able to supply anything resembling evidence. Until they do, there's no case, ergo the judges (many of them appointed by the president) have been tossing those cases.

What you watched wasn't sworn testimony, it was a show for the TV cameras designed to look like witness statements. None of what they described was ever submitted as evidence to a court of law where said witnesses would have been speaking under penalty of perjury, and where lawyers putting forward that evidence would be subject to professional sanctions if they knowingly solicited false testimony.

The Dems encouraged looting, arson, and rioting for most of this year. I can't condone what these yahoos are doing, but it's hardly surprising to see them doing it after almost a full year of it being encouraged in the BLM/Antifa direction. I'd be fine with all of these morons getting prosecuted, but after the antifa types have not only been denied prosecution, no matter how serial their behavior, and the VP-elect's campaign bailing them out, doing so is just going to inflame things even more.
We're at the initial stages of a complete breakdown. The Dems have a chance to not take things further, but I can't see the ones in power taking the high road (and I only vote third party, for what should hopefully be obvious reasons by this point).

As best I can tell using the Wikipedia definition of fascism we don't have anyone that clearly matches. The closest thing I can identify is the technique of using businesses to implement the state policies around covid-19 like making the businesses enforce the state's goals on their customers. The reason that this doesn't meet the definition of fascism is because the states that are doing it don't also have policies of ultranationalism.

Look at the timeline. He only put out that video after being directly called out by Biden. Then the various right wing news echoed his message about how this will be what he is remembered for and its a black mark and the rest. I believe that the cops have claimed to found ONE GUY with weapons and explosives. I don't have many details on that yet, but the explosives were apparently still in the vehicle used to transport them. Obviously not deployed.
Once again - THERE WERE NO FIRES yesterday. Unlike BLM/Antifa, who has set fires all around the country for months now, and suffered few consequences.

OK, we saw two windows broken. I saw no "violence" aside from broken windows. Explosives - I call bullshit. Unattended baggage and shit were "suspicious", and bomb squads were called. You'll have to link to an actual explosive. Theft - it seems that might be accurate. Reports say that hard drives were taken from computers in capitol offices.

I've seen no credible source that any "suspicious package" checked out to actually be explosives. All I'm seeing are excitable people making the assertion. As has often been pointed out here, "anonymous sources" aren't credible, even if your favorite "credible" news source publishes the allegations.

Hopefully this will be like G W Bush's second term, where after a while you couldn't find anyone who would admit to voting for him.
There are already Congress folk drawing up articles of impeachment (yes, he can be impeached even after he is escorted out of office - at gun point if necessary), and calls to invoke article 25 immediately. Yeah, it is "interesting" how the police always seem to exercise restraint when dealing with white supremacists and fascist militias.
Some quotes by cops show without any ambiguity that some cops feel an allegiance to these far-right terrorist groups. The difference in response by cops as a whole to peaceful protest for civil rights vs. right-wing terrorists demonstrates that this allegiance is not just felt by, "a few bad apples," but rather is endemic throughout the police.

When the left holds peaceful protests the right shows up in force to cause damage and kill people [news.com.au]. There is a violent side of the political spectrum and for "some reason" police are much much more hesitant to use force against it than they are agains the left.
