Edward Snowden gave testimony via video-link to Council of Europe at parliamentary hearing today (8 Apr).

Highlights:

  • NSA spying on human rights organizations both within US borders and abroad
  • usage of dragnet and data-mining for general law enforcement (not only for intelligence affairs)
  • (popular level) description of used XKeyscore technology and it's capabilities

AFAIK this is the first time Edward Snowden testifies to any legislative organization.

    The link in the article, from PACE News [coe.int], is for the live webcast, which is over. There is a recorded version at Euronews [euronews.com] and a longer article here [theguardian.com] with a another (but seems to be identical) video link.
