El Reg reports
Steve Wozniak has spoken out against Apple's tax affairs, saying all companies ought to pay 50 per cent in taxes.
Speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live he said: "I don't like the idea that Apple might be unfair--not paying taxes the way I do as a person.
"I do a lot of work, I do a lot of travel and I pay over 50 per cent of anything I make in taxes and I believe that's part of life and you should do it."
Asked if Apple should pay that amount, he replied: "Every company in the world should."
According to Woz, money was never a factor when he started the biz with Steve Jobs 40 years ago. He added: "Steve Jobs started Apple Computers for money, that was his big thing and that was extremely important and critical and good."
Europe is currently scrutinising Ireland's tax arrangements with Apple over an alleged sweetheart deal with the company. Some have speculated the probe could lead to Apple paying $8bn in back taxes, even though the case is against the Irish government.

Huge corporations GREW under those seemingly preposterous tax rates.
You are also ignoring something that happened after WW2.
That American prosperity? Well for China, Russia, Japan, and most of Europe? Not so much.
People do not realize the scale that WW2 was. We are still to this day finding unexploded ordnance littering Europe. Look it up, it's in the history books. Apparently you havent.
Many do not realize that all of those areas were razed to the ground factories and all (especially the factories). The Americans even left a town alone that was a significant contributor to war efforts in Japan. Just to make a show of the new shiny bomb. Which obliterated the town in a few seconds then burned for days.
My point? When you have a monopoly on building things you can make obscene profits. Then you are ignoring all the loopholes they were using. One of the things both Carter and Regan did when first coming to office? Restructure the entire tax codes to reduce those shenanigans. Congress and the Presidents following them basically put them all back and then some (the 95-2000 congress/president being the worst of the lot with their cooked books of balanced budget). Hell as a kid growing up in the 1970s I 'knew' about them. They were that bad. They were usually a punchline in many jokes. Where Regan screwed up was on the other end. He slashed the loopholes and cut the rate and doubled the income of the gov. However, he then turned around and spent it all and then some.
If you want to 'grow' the economy you need people to have jobs. Not find new ways to incentivize people to hide their money. Which is exactly what they are doing because the laffer curve is out of balance. That thing in Panama is just the tip of the iceberg and what is showing is huge.
No Republican will ever admit that taxes can be good.
Is this the lie you tell yourself to make yourself feel superior to others? Many have taken on the stance that the Gov is wasting money. They are trying to starve the beast. It is an appealing method. But fails long term. You heard it from this republican. So your 'no republican' is a lie or at best hyperbole. I heard it from one of the current candidates. He put it best. We are getting ripped off. We are getting a bad deal and told everything is fine oh and we need more money to do it.

"But fails long term."
Raise taxes, cut welfare (corporate and personal), chop the military industrial complex off at the knees, and BALANCE THE FOCKING BUDGET!!!
But, that hasn't been done when dems controlled Washington, it hasn't been done when GOP controlled Washington - it won't be done until there is some kind of a revolution. And, I don't see the sheep revolting any time soon.

I agree with what you are saying. However, calling people sheep makes you look like an ass and basically makes people ignore your argument completely. I have seen you do it on 2 different threads today. I suggest you tone it back a bit.
