    ...special treatment, why should internet?

LASER, TASER, SCUBA, Kleenex, Escalator, Aspirin, Heroin, etc. More often than not they're all written lowercase and nobody bats an eye. What's so special about the internet that it needs capitilisation?

Kleenex is a registered trademark, and, if used in print, rather than "facial tissue" (or whatever), you are likely to hear from the relevant legal team. Companies must defend their trademarks, or they lose them. We have had this fight in the open source world because they will not grant a trademark unless the requester is in trade. The window manager "Sawmill" had to change its name to "Sawfish", and, more recently, "XBMC" became "Kodi".
