Because one day you might want to plug your own retarded product in your journal and saying you can't do it now is a bad precedent. We've got a solution in the works but paulej72 has been exceedingly busy lately.

    How about robots.txt?

Spammers don't pay attention to those as a general rule. We're just going to put a minimum karma score for your journal to be listed in the journals list on the main page. Something trivial for a human but prohibitive for a bot like 5-10.

So that journals won't get indexed by search engines, I meant. You have Disallow /~ in robots.txt, but it needs to say Disallow /~* if you want to disallow the journals. Google recognizes a Noindex directive that is different from Disallow (without Noindex, disallowed pages are indexed).

          Disagree.
That would be using a howitzer to kill flies.

It sounds like paulej72 has a handle on this and just needs to find the time to git 'er done.

Knowing that leaves me more contented than I was yesterday [soylentnews.org] or [soylentnews.org] previously. [soylentnews.org]

Just set the DNS to 127.0.0.2 and you'll nuke the whole site from orbit. After all, it is the only way to be sure.
