Not to take potshots at the "other site" but damn.

I had mostly stopped checking it because the comment signal-to-noise ratio had become so bad. But now they're running these giant floating ads that cover half the comment-text so you can't actually read them anyway.

Given the adblock-to-not ratio over there, perhaps few have noticed?

They aren't blocked with the default lists. Something about it how they aren't actually "ads" because of reasons. Don't care to enough to actually look it up on lanik.

Don't show up for me on uBlock Origin (default settings even). I am seeing their "top deals" one, but that appears to collapse properly.

No, I don't care to turn it off and have another look.

Weird. I'm on uBO too and see ads inside a div with id="stackcommerce-adwrap" another with the another div of class="stackcommerce-widget scw-horizontal col4" with ads inside them. Neither are hidden or collapsed. Oh well, at least they wouldn't malware me with their own deals; they aren't that desperate yet.

Never seen it myself. And I'm just running AdBlock Plus.
The only ads I've seen are the Slashdot Deals and the pair of brown bordered ads that usually shows up about a third and two-thirds down the screen. Oh yeah, and a sponsored content by Taboola just above the Slashdot deals at the bottom. Pretty easy to ignore.
No floaters, videos or pop-ups on default setting.
I'll have to give Ublock a go, AdBlock isn't nearly as good as it used to be, I've just been too lazy to do anything about it since it still mostly works. I really don't mind a handful of static ads, but floaters, pop-ups, and autoplays are never welcome.

When /. changed ownership, they sent out a notification email about the change in conditions. I emailed Slashdot and told them to remove everything and never contact me. IIRC I checked to see if I could login about a month later and it didn't work.

This is why adblock is stupid. The people who continue to frequent that site don't realize that it's infected with malware. In fact it tries to download a firefox patch js to my machine once or twice a day.
