It's way easier to exploit more Hz than it is to do the same with multiple cores. That requires re-thinking.. shudder computations. ;-)
But see it on the positive side. People that need to brag and buys these things will pay the development costs for those users that actually need these things. If they suck up Microsoft then DRAM makers also become happy and GDP goes to the top! ;-)
If computing becomes really cheap, then maybe there will also be chips without Backdoor Management Spying?
