Donald Trump has spent 81 days on the golf course in his first year as President, racing past his predecessors.

Mr Trump, after a weekend at his Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida, has spent more time on the green than George W Bush did during eight years in office.

The President has also been on the golf course almost three times as much as Barack Obama did during his first year.

The American public spent at least $43 million in order to support President Donald Trump‘s considerable golf habit in 2017.

    President Obama, by his own account, has a handicap of 13. President Trump has a handicap of 2.8. I think that's a very clear distinction.

    When President Trump plays golf, he isn't only maintaining his enviable ability in the sport, and his excellent health. It's not a vacation. He's developing deeper and better relationships with members of Congress. Those relationships have helped pushed forward the President’s agenda. For example, the President recently signed historic tax legislation. The success of that came from the strong relationships that the President has. And he’s played golf with a number of senators, and used that time certainly to accomplish that.

    I think we’ve had an extremely successful 2017. Some of that’s due to the relationship building that he was able to do there. I think it’s the press that has an issue with his time on the course.
