I buy them quite a lot so I can fabricate an excuse to chat up the cashier at a certain convenience store.

It's ready now, and my apartment is fragrant with the appetizing scent of gravy and salisbury steak.

The mashed potatoes aren't so good but the green beans are of far better quality than those found in cans.

But I don't feel like I can eat it.

I got very little sleep last night. I was awake until four in the morning, then had to get up at 6:30 so I could take the bus to my witch doctor appointment.

I don't feel so good.

Maybe I'll just put it in the fridge.

The cashier is always happy to see me. The other day I folded a Peace Crane before her very eyes. I demonstrated that tugging its tail leads it to flap its wings, then said "This is for you." She was quite pleased.

Unfortunately whenever I see her I lose the ability to speak. So quite commonly I just pay for my Hungry Man and then leave.

I paid extra to get the first of two batches. So it may not be any more than three weeks from now.

I at first planned to get an Antminer S9 bitcoin rig but it uses so much power that it requires 220 Volts. The LiteCoin Antiminer L3+ only uses 800 Watts and so can use 110 Volts.

At the time I ordered it a LiteCoin Mining Profit Calculator informed me that I could expect $10,000 in profit per year. I could easily provide for myself with just three of them, and it happens that I have three AC outlet breakers. One of those is for the garage so I'd have to put a WiFi access point there, as I'm a renter and so can't be drilling holes in the walls just to support my mining habit.

However LiteCoin has declined quite a lot. Even so I can expect to make a substantial profit.

Her in the hydroelectrically-oriented Pacific NorthLeft we only pay 8.16 cents per killowatt-hour.

Speculating in cryptos so far hasn't yielded any joy. While I haven't lost money I haven't made any either. I did well with the NAGA ICO but got duped by the press that TRON was receiving. The company behind NAGA announced that it would be partnering with a highly-respected company. In reality they are partnering with a tiny speck of a subsidiary of that highly-respectable company. That subsidiary isn't in any way remarkable.

I bought Dash because some online posts said it was a good choice, only to find my thousand-dollar investment transforming into five hundred dollars.

My product is quite close to releasing to my client's OEM customers. My client is a fabless semiconductor firm, their customers are all computer peripherals manufacturers.

When all those customers sign off on my last build I will be receiving more money than God.

That will be quite handy as I will also become unemployed. My client thinks I'm way cool but they don't have any other Mac projects in mind.

Possibly I'll buy a second Litecoin rig out of that last check.

I bought into three other ICOs that presently are still in their ICO sale. I hope to do well with each of them but I won't know until a month from now.

I already trained my replacement. The guy is a rocket scientist. They didn't have any Mac resources before they retained me but now they have that rocket scientist.

http://soggywizards.com [soggywizards.com] does well in google. I get inquiries from potential clients about once a month. That's really all I require, as most contract jobs last quite a lot longer. While I will be unemployed it should not be for long.

I have a Mac mini - that's a desktop box. I'm going to buy a MacBook Pro in part so I can work from cafes, and in part because I need two Macs to develop driver code with the two-machine debugger and the firewire kprintf viewer.

I'm giving serious thought to spending quality time on Warp Life [warplife.com]. It's been in development since the beginning of time, quite likely I won't release it until the Heat Death but were I to release it sooner it would enable me to get contracts writing iOS apps.

That business is hard for us grey-hairs to break into. I swear to God I once interviewed with two nineteen-year-olds who started their $2,000,000 per year iOS shop when they were still in fucking high school.

I have a windows laptop that's a decent machine but I never use it any more. If I have to stare at a screen all day I far prefer that screen to contain a Mac UI. For a Mac fanboi to use windows is just like pounding nails with my fists.

I think I can eat my salisbury steak now.

You know, I am not a grey beard and I need to state that the grey-beard being unemployable is a myth I came to dismantle in my current employment with a major company. Not only I see that grey-beards are paid top-dollar, they also get a lot of lattitude in project's direction. Moreover, the locations which happen to have the eldest technical people are exactly the USA and Germany. In Germany it is hilarious that they are hiring because a significant part of the staff is retiring.

Also insightful is the fact that the more critical parts of the projects like SOC design and integration is done in Germany and USA, by these senior engineers. I am approaching my 30s and I see that my younger colleagues, while eager, still depend a lot on their seniors for validation and training, as is natural. More and more I think American media pedals this hero-wunderkind myth which demoralizes some very capable middle aged staff. It also probably influences decision makers in a negative way for the companies.

I myself, still young, but pretty knowledgeable in my opinion, falter when compared with the honed work discipline and insightfulness of my more senior colleagues. They are not perfect of course and I often disagree with them, to later come to the conclusion they were right. It is almost unnerving as I always considered myself pretty independent and somehow successful in my endeavors.

With my own company I often learn the tools and concepts to a very expert degree. Even so in my day-time employer I have this slightly older colleagues that seem to always be up to my knowledge, and this gives me great satisfaction. To conclude, grey-beards are not useless neither technically nor organizationally. Do not believe in the daily spitting of media, which just wants to shock and awe. Good grey beards are exactly what the industry needs to train younger highly motivated younger engineers.

After your skinflick sexcapades, this is like an episode of crippling depression. Hungry Man = the dinner of depression. The rest is self explanatory.

The AC is a cheap troll.

There are quite the interesting personalities here in SN, but MDC sounds like a nice guy. He seems to have a tough life, whether true or not the message seems to be good.

MDC, I am often curious how old are you. Could you give an idea?

Also, from your posts you seem like a highly skilled individual even if, also from your posts, you have mental illnesses. Have you tried working remotely? Perhaps they would alleviate some anxiety, or conceal some of your least good moments. I have a friend working in a big IT company from home because he has severe social anxieties. He lived in his rented room for some years but keeping himself working allowed him to not further spiral his life out of control. Now he is recovering and with a girlfriend has been going out with me and mine. Still working from his house but he improved a lot.

Also, besides the obviously trollish comments of other user, I see a silver lining in your stories. They are interesting, and you seem to have become a sort of personality here in SN. When considering SN's VIPs (Aristarchus, TMB, Ethanol Fueled, jmorris Runaway1956, etc) ironically you are the most relatable. Heh, considering that you stated you have a mental illness that says something about their characters.

Good luck in life and if you need something let us know.

You can see MDC's interview with CNN. I found the sound of his voice quite peculiar and sort of robotic. It reminded me of Jame Gumb aka Buffalo Bill's voice in Silence of the Lambs.

Probably why that association was made in my comment above.

I'll be 54 in two weeks. My hair is partially grey, I have all manner of unexplained aches and pains, and I have some grey hair.

I chose to do my current work at the client's office so as to avoid becoming isolated.

But it is quite likely that I'll work at home for whatever my next contract is.

I'm going to buy a MacBook Pro out of my next paycheck. With the Mac mini I presently have that will enable me to debug drivers over a firewire connection. The OS X kernel contains a debugger whose user interface is executed on some other mac. One can also send kprintf messages over firewire.

I attended Caltech, but didn't graduate from there it was UC Santa Cruz. I managed to screw up my Caltech education in a spectacular way.
