    You know what would be progress for society? No, not self-driving cars, getting people out of cars on to bicycles, cycling on properly designed safe bike lanes. Improving people's fitness and health as well as the environment.

      As I heard the story, they will just ride around the campus for fun...stopping back at base for battery charging when needed.

    Have you seen serious bicycle crashes? You should watch more bicycle racing, then. Admittedly, the average bicycle crash is probably less lethal than your average car crash. I have twisted the frame on a bicycle by going over the handlebars in the rain, though. Didn't do good things to my ribs, either.
