https://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2018/07/trump-tweet-epa-head-scott-pruitt-is-resigning/:

On Thursday, President Trump tweeted that Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Scott Pruitt had submitted his resignation.

Pruitt had been considered among the most loyal of Trump's appointees, but the former Oklahoma Attorney General made headlines over the past several months with repeated scandals over extravagant spending. Pruitt reportedly used agency funds to buy hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of tactical pants and other security-related items. He also used agency resources to help his wife find a job and even to help him purchase a used Trump hotel mattress. Questions about who Pruitt promoted and how raises were doled out also caused significant damage to Pruitt's public image. Thirteen different federal investigations had been opened up into the administrator's conduct.

Trump's tweet mentioned none of this Thursday afternoon, however. "I have accepted the resignation of Scott Pruitt as the Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency," the President tweeted. "Within the Agency Scott has done an outstanding job, and I will always be thankful to him for this. The Senate confirmed Deputy at EPA, Andrew Wheeler, will..."

A second tweet continued: "... on Monday assume duties as the acting Administrator of the EPA. I have no doubt that Andy will continue on with our great and lasting EPA agenda. We have made tremendous progress and the future of the EPA is very bright!"

Don't let the door hit ya where Lord Cthulhu split ya, fucking asshole. Too bad Wheeler is almost as bad and a lot better at flying under the radar than Pruitt.

This administration seems to make it a point not just to choose foxes to guard the henhouses, but to ask the foxes specifically which hens they like the looks of the most. I'm sure our resident "reactionaries" think this is all part of "burning it all down" and starting over, but that shit's dumber than a chocolate teapot.

We aren't into "burning it all down". That's a leftist thing. Today's leftists fancy themselves as oppressed heroes, but they have never known true suffering and will be among the first to die when civilization collapses. ("Western civilization", not that anything else is civilization really)

We want to keep our economy strong so that civilization doesn't collapse. We don't want to burn it all down. We fear the coming disaster, which is part of the reason we buy enough guns every 3 months to arm both the Russian and Chinese military.

Say, want to find some Russian collusion or even Chinese collusion? Environmental groups in the USA are supported from outside the USA because a powerful US economy is not what some other countries prefer. Consider how Russia, a major oil and gas supplier, feels about fracking in the USA. Consider how China feels about US environmental regulations that make manufacturing in the USA relatively expensive compared to manufacturing in China. That there is a big part of why leftist/environmental groups always seem so strangely hostile to the USA being successful.

Another big reason for the left being so upset is that their slush funds are going away. The EPA and other agencies were being used to direct funding to leftist groups. That was just plain corrupt, and it is coming to an end. We aren't sorry at all, and you leftists ought to be ashamed of yourselves.

Wow, that's not just a race to the bottom, that's putting on an Acme Rocket Pack turned the wrong way 'round and jumping off a cliff. Onto a bomb. Waving a cowboy hat and hollering. As was seen at the end of Dr. Strangelove. The worst part about you morons is that you're too fucking stupid and un-self-aware to even understand how badly you're fucking yourselves over with this. You won't survive what's coming, and it'll be your own goddamn fault.

Boy you're not kidding. I mean look at Pruitt FFS...while heading the EPA his own fucking linkedin profile still described him as "a leading advocate against the EPA’s activist agenda". I mean you just can't make this shit up. This was all I could think of through all these "scandals" that finally brought him down. The real scandal was the appointment itself. Hell...the reason he got in all the other trouble was probably because, after getting past that almost unimaginable hurdle, he probably figured everything else was a fucking free-for-all.
