SoylentNews is people

Journal by fliptop

For a few weeks there in May and June I was doubtful that the SN experiment was going to succeed. I saw an awful lot of stories that had single-digit comments and found myself jumping over to /. frequently.

However, lately activity has seemed to pick up and the comments have been great. In fact, just this morning I realized I had not visited /. in over a week.

I, for one, am glad about this development.

Slashdot is still randomly redirecting to Beta. Not nearly as much as it was, but that it still is indicates that they are not giving up on their plan.

After Timothy's whole "Fuck you, we're going to Beta regardless of what you think, quit bitching" story and Rob Malda later dismissing angry readers as something like "a fringe bunch of whiners" I'm surprised people still go there at all.

But then again, people are still on Facebook [go.com] and will likely stay there despite their own bitching, so there you go.

And common people wonder why elites don't give a shit about them.

Fortunately, Soylent News (generally) has much more quality than quantity and a higher signal/noise ratio than Slashdot's hordes of yes-yes corporate sockpuppets and "me too"/"I agree" non-comments.
