So the loud minority is starting to be drowned out by the usually silent majority: good for all those who have brains.
Original:
So radio stations are banning "Baby, it's cold outside" because there are too many losers in the world.
My. God., People. Are. Stupid.
It's a really nice Christmas song about a girl wanting to stay with her man for....'cuddles', but she can't because society would call her a 'whore/slut' if she did.
She is wrestling with WANTING to stay but 'having' to leave because society is filled with losers.
Look:
"I really can't stay - Baby it's cold outside
I've got to go away - Baby it's cold outside
This evening has been - Been hoping that you'd drop in
So very nice - I'll hold your hands, they're just like ice
My mother will start to worry - Beautiful, what's your hurry
My father will be pacing the floor - Listen to the fireplace roar
So really I'd better scurry - Beautiful, please don't hurry
Well Maybe just a half a drink more - Put some records on while I pour
The neighbors might think - Baby, it's bad out there
Say, what's in this drink - No cabs to be had out there
I wish I knew how - Your eyes are like starlight now
To break this spell - I'll take your hat, your hair looks swell
I ought to say no, no, no, sir - Mind if I move a little closer
At least I'm gonna say that I tried - What's the sense in hurting my pride
I really can't stay - Baby don't hold out
Ahh, but it's cold outside
C'mon baby
I simply must go - Baby, it's cold outside
The answer is no - Ooh baby, it's cold outside
This welcome has been - I'm lucky that you dropped in
So nice and warm -- Look out the window at that storm
My sister will be suspicious - Man, your lips look so delicious
My brother will be there at the door - Waves upon a tropical shore
My maiden aunt's mind is vicious - Gosh your lips look delicious
Well maybe just a cigarette more - Never such a blizzard before
I've got to get home - Oh, baby, you'll freeze out there
Say, lend me your coat - It's up to your knees out there
You've really been grand - Your eyes are like starlight now
But don't you see - How can you do this thing to me
There's bound to be talk tomorrow - Making my life long sorrow
At least there will be plenty implied - If you caught pneumonia and died
I really can't stay - Get over that old out
Ahh, but it's cold outside
Baby it's cold outside"
Read it!
There are no rape drugs in her drink: she's making an excuse for not leaving, just like in the lines:
"But don't you see
There's bound to be talk tomorrow
At least there will be plenty implied
I really can't stay"
She wants to stay, but feels she can't.
Only stupid people could object to this song.
Stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid people.

Yeah, it is a bit stupid. The assumption is that the woman is refusing multiple times and the guy won't take no for an answer. The contextual reality is that the song is actually about real romance and in this case the woman is saying no only out of anxiety about what society will think. She wants to stay but says no because she is worried about what people will think.
At the same time I can see how the song might give the impression that it is OK for a guy to pressure a woman into sex. The contextual clues are actually few and far between in the song, and the song could actually be VERY dark if you look at it with suspicion. Woman keeps making excuses for why she needs to leave, such as:
I mean from the words she says no, but contextually we assume she wants to stay. Obviously the song's context makes it seem that the guy is just trying to let the woman know it is OK to say yes to her desire.
BUT from just the words of the song it definitely could be construed as supporting date rape. "The girl says no but she really means yes!"
So I'm torn between the two interpretations, but in the end if your kids are listening to this I can see why someone might be worried about the message they'll get out of it. Seems like it might be a 50/50 chance how some kid might take it depending on their own contextual experience.
The end result is that the meaning behind this song is arguably fluid and it could be a negative message for some people. The brains are not standing still, they are on hyper alert. Whether this is a good or bad thing is a tougher question.
