The CBC has grabbed a brain and got it moving again!
https://www.cbc.ca/news/entertainment/cbc-baby-its-cold-reinstate-1.4941087

So the loud minority is starting to be drowned out by the usually silent majority: good for all those who have brains.

Original:

So radio stations are banning "Baby, it's cold outside" because there are too many losers in the world.

My. God., People. Are. Stupid.

It's a really nice Christmas song about a girl wanting to stay with her man for....'cuddles', but she can't because society would call her a 'whore/slut' if she did.
She is wrestling with WANTING to stay but 'having' to leave because society is filled with losers.

Look:
"I really can't stay - Baby it's cold outside
I've got to go away - Baby it's cold outside
This evening has been - Been hoping that you'd drop in
So very nice - I'll hold your hands, they're just like ice
My mother will start to worry - Beautiful, what's your hurry
My father will be pacing the floor - Listen to the fireplace roar
So really I'd better scurry - Beautiful, please don't hurry
Well Maybe just a half a drink more - Put some records on while I pour

The neighbors might think - Baby, it's bad out there
Say, what's in this drink - No cabs to be had out there
I wish I knew how - Your eyes are like starlight now
To break this spell - I'll take your hat, your hair looks swell
I ought to say no, no, no, sir - Mind if I move a little closer
At least I'm gonna say that I tried - What's the sense in hurting my pride
I really can't stay - Baby don't hold out
Ahh, but it's cold outside

C'mon baby

I simply must go - Baby, it's cold outside
The answer is no - Ooh baby, it's cold outside
This welcome has been - I'm lucky that you dropped in
So nice and warm -- Look out the window at that storm
My sister will be suspicious - Man, your lips look so delicious
My brother will be there at the door - Waves upon a tropical shore
My maiden aunt's mind is vicious - Gosh your lips look delicious
Well maybe just a cigarette more - Never such a blizzard before

I've got to get home - Oh, baby, you'll freeze out there
Say, lend me your coat - It's up to your knees out there
You've really been grand - Your eyes are like starlight now
But don't you see - How can you do this thing to me
There's bound to be talk tomorrow - Making my life long sorrow
At least there will be plenty implied - If you caught pneumonia and died
I really can't stay - Get over that old out
Ahh, but it's cold outside

Baby it's cold outside"

Read it!
There are no rape drugs in her drink: she's making an excuse for not leaving, just like in the lines:
"But don't you see
There's bound to be talk tomorrow
At least there will be plenty implied
I really can't stay"

She wants to stay, but feels she can't.

Only stupid people could object to this song.
Stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid people.

My. God.

    From the article:
"start ‘bringing home the bagels’ instead of the bacon," the animal rights organization tweeted Tuesday.

The suggestions didn't stop at bagels: PETA tweeted a chart of "anti-animal" phrases with possible correctives.

Instead of saying "kill two birds with one stone," the organization wrote, why not "feed two birds with one scone?"

I'm allergic to gluten: how DARE they talk about bringing home something that could I'll me! Harumph! I should go out and buy some bacon right now to get back at them!

    God. people. are. stupid.
Glad I (do seem to be) NOT human...humans are becoming pathetic.

    That's actually pretty funny.

PETA has some insane policies, but they have a very effective PR department that generates a lot of money.

While eyeroll-inducing, they came up with some clever replacement idioms. Like grabbing a flower by the thorns. These could be inserted into the dialogue for someone's elf cosplay/roleplay.

I eat meat so don't get too worked up, but the meat industry is a pretty cruel thing towards animals that think and feel. Just because animals don't have human level intelligence doesn't mean torturing and murdering them is without moral implications.

Just because this realization throws a lot of your traditional world into disarray does not make it wrong. Eating meat causes animal suffering. You can either come to terms with that or continue being ignorant. At least have the courage to admit that your choices have negative consequences.

I realize that: yeah, animals get the crap end.

I was just making fun: as marketing, who knows...at least they might attract attention. But do they REALLY think they'll change the saying to 'bagel'?
      If so, I say "Hrrmmmmmm....."

    Also from the article:

Critics said the tweets diminished violence against people of color, the LGBTQ community and individuals with disabilities.

What. The. Actual. Fuck?! I hear a WHOOSH bigger than a sonic boom! It's quite clearly those critics' own bigotry making them think it "diminished" the seriousness of those other forms of discrimination. It shows how deeply rooted their biases are--the strong belief that animals are fundamentally of a massively lower importance when making moral judgments. While PETA's approach on this topic is certainly whimsical and click-baity, speciesism itself is a real, deadly serious form of discrimination. People are just dismissing and ridiculing it as a knee-jerk reaction because they've already decided that they won't give such arguments (or the people that make them) serious thought.

Humanity doesn't want to allow speciesism to be a legitimate thing because it would just be far too inconvenient. We simply can't have people feeling guilty when they send their "livestock" off to slaughter or carve up their dinner, so better just to point and laugh, right? At this point I should note that I do absolutely recognize that many animals have much less capacity for thought than most humans and, at least in some cases, probably even have less ability to experience suffering to the same degree as humans. My position is just that that should never morally excuse inflicting suffering upon them and that it's morally wrong to treat them as objects. Consider also that humans exist across wide spectra of intelligence level, ability and capacity to feel but it's generally not seen as morally acceptable to take away the rights of those humans whose capacities are reduced. Therefore the same moral reasoning should be applied to the rights of animals.
