The BBC News and RT reports that:

A Swedish court has upheld an arrest warrant for WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, who found shelter in Ecuador's embassy in London two years ago.

The Stockholm District Court moved to uphold the warrant on Wednesday following a legal challenge from Assange's lawyers in June. The challenge was spurred by a change to Swedish criminal proceedings regarding the right to information in criminal procedures which brings the country in line with an EU directive.

How should I put this to sound sane: I suspect, in every country there is some things in its legal system (culture) you don't want happening to you; that is, the court proceedings are not there to clarify responsibility, or clear up misunderstandings in contracts or so. When it happens, you are just punished. Because all is handled by people...

Example, in some Arab countries, if they claim you burned pages from the Coran and it come up to trial, you know you are doomed. Or, they say you cheated on husband, and you are guilty by definition...

Now I have not been all around the world, but have lived in Sweden for a while.
Here, they argue, for every "rape" that gets into light, there are tens if not hundreds in the dark...
They want to "avenge" them, I would say...

Yes, it is a fairly liberal place regarding sexuality and such, the women here are not to be messed with...
They are angry for all crimes committed by man against woman and children, ever, by anyone, and they mean it, and take it literally and seriously... And angry for the salary differences, angry for the number of man in power, angry that women on film have boobs, and so forth...
Here, these are very infected "topics" mostly because they are constantly "present"...

If dating or at work, avoid talking politics, psychology, evolution, gender roles, neurochemistry - actually anything that may be different between the genders...

And don't ever, EVER fuck with feminists... Neither literally nor figuratively...

And, YES, I do not believe that you, or me, would get a fair investigation, or trial if we would get in trouble with women...

    bye bye, little karma

Man none of that shit even matters when we have a smoking gun courtesy of Ecuador. the government of Ecuador said quite clearly and plainly "we will deny him protection if you will simply hand us in writing that he is to be taken for the crimes he is accused of in Sweden and not to be transferred to US custody"...The Swedes refused.

I'm sorry but case closed, thanks for playing, its obviously the saber rattling DoJ and NSA pulling on some Swedish puppets because if they actually gave two shits about charging him with rape they would have signed in a heartbeat just to end the thing...they didn't which means only one thing, the SECOND his ass got over international waters he'd be given a "rendition ride" straight to GitMo as a lesson not to fuck with the USSA.

Ya know, as much as I miss the hell out of my grandfather I'm glad he is not here, because after suffering in WWII against the fascists to see the USA become so fascist as to run camps and pull rendition rides? Would break his heart.

That seems to be (IS) the truth, but I was aiming at the post above me, and at why this is accepted in Sweden.

My point is, that if this case would be about parking ticket, or a bar fight, or any other issue, even the swedes would have raised concerns about the lack of above mentioned writing.

But since this is a "rape" issue, it disintegrates any common sense these people have, and that is why it becomes so bizarre...

btw, I am not swedish by birth, for whatever its worth

Well then you should be protesting loudly at every opportunity that THIS IS AN INSULT to women who have been raped to use the crime of rape as a red herring to give a guy a rendition ride to gitMo and it makes Swedes look like america's bitch. If they want to be looked at as the cousins of the cheese eating surrender monkeys? Go right ahead but I would say every woman should be fucking insulted and royally pissed that they would use rape as a cheap excuse to give the USSA a handjob by grabbing Assange.
