Groklaw Stirs from its Deep Sleep

Roy Schestowitz notes that for the first time in nearly a year, Groklaw has come back to life with the posting of an item in its "Latest News Picks" section noting the UK's adoption of OpenDocument Format.

Roy also points out a further news link to the US Patent Office's increased scrutiny of software patents of late and says:

No wonder Groklaw is eager to say something and perhaps come back for good. It will hopefully return to covering FOSS issues, such as the IRS assault on FOSS, patents against Android (China revealed Microsoft's patents and Microsoft's booster Richard Waters reveals that Qualcomm too might be affected), among many other issues that never received an extensive legal coverage.

    or Secure Drop [github.com]? Although, according to the freedom of the press foundation "it was close to impossible to install at an optimum security level without the creators' help" so...

    Perhaps groklaw just needs some geeks to adopt it? The values of our two sites seem pretty similar but different enough to justify a new site, any possibilities of groklaw becoming a member site of LibreNews Foundation?

    There would be a huge value to the community if anyone could provide a means to provide secure communications between Groklaw, (and other sites) and informants who would like to remain Anonymous. This alone is going to be very difficult to do since the feds seem very keen to be sure to have the backdoor and all the keys.

    Anyone could try to pick up the mantle, but you have a impossibly high standard to match the quality of the original. and all of the same risks.

    I'm sure we can do SOME of the what Groklaw provided here on Soylent; that is provide a forum for discussion of the cases - but we do not have legal expertise; or on the ground reporters / informants that pj and crew had acquired over the years they were active.
