Red and Blue are neck and neck. I'm going to make wild generalizations that do not apply to the absolute. I do not believe the world to be black and white but many shades of grey (perhaps 50 :) ). Please don't take offense but feel free to critique and disagree.

In general, red is considered a color of focus and blue one of wandering thought...

Except that in Canada, Liberals are Red, Conservatives are Blue.

Perhaps at the end of this poll, we will mix the colours by the appropriate ratios. That way, every vote counts!

So as of now, our site will be:

    27% Red
    26% Blue
    14% Green
    14% Grey
    7% Linus
    3% Skittles
    3% Other
    1% Yellow

I suspect that mixed together, we'd end up with a rather bad shade of purple or brown. But hey, the people voted, and SN is going to listen!

Let's see ... a mixture of all colours is, of course, white, and Linus' colour is yellow [linuxjournal.com] (well, it was in 1999, but it's the only one I've found, although that might just be my lacking search-fu). For "Other" I choose "black" (not that it matters too much, at 3%). Therefore we get:

      0.27*(255,0,0) + 0.26*(0,255,0) + 0.14*(0,0,255) + 0.14*(128,128,128) + 0.07*(255,255,0) + 0.03*(255,255,255) + 0.03*(0,0,0) + 0.01*(255,255,0) = (114.82,112,27,61.27) ≈ (115,112,61).

Therefore the chosen colour is #73703d. Which happens to be an olive green (at least on my screen/to my eyes).

I call it olive green too but it may be red to you as far as I'm concerned. You just call it green too.

If the top two are Red and Blue shouldn't the patriotic solution be to make SoylentNews Red, White and Blue; the American way!
