    It is definitely a rational way to look at it. It is also rational to realize that it is better to vote for the guy who might renege vs the guy who says they are against said policy.

    Some chance is better than no chance at all.

    You can always vote for somebody else when the bums renege. Reelecting them to a 40 year career is bogus. Instead of believing their campaign bullshit, make an effort to check their background just like any other employee.
