When a large media outlet posts a video that show something else than what it is purported to show, the Republicans lose their shit. But when a Trump advisor [twitter.com] does it?

At least ABC apologized immediately. The Trump advisor did the Conservative Republican thing and attacked the people pointing out her lie!
Republicans do this kind of thing all the time. Here's another example [advocate.com], with a photo instead of a video. And another. [newsobserver.com] And do they apologize? Never. Do they correct? Never. They attack! They deflect! They complain about the lib'rul media! But they scream their heads off the one time a media company not firmly and slavishly in their camp does it, even if it gets corrected quickly.

And they win! Why is that? Well, it's easy. Defiance, right or wrong, is seen as strength. The mealymouthed "apologies" in mass media and the democrats just show weakness and buffoonery. The gag was intentional, and the "apology" is as phony as a three dollar bill, which also extremely transparent. Their mistake is getting caught. Somehow they manage to keep 50% of congress. That is a real mystery.
But make no mistake, the Party wants war, and it will spread lies to have war. If you want to dig up every instance since ancient Rome, go for it. When the serving tray came by, I was always told it's more polite to pick the one closest to me than reaching all the way across and grabbing everything.

To buttress that a bit, according to the official reports from my state, 72.77% of eligible voters participated in at least one election in 2016 and 61.55% did so in 2018. Both of those numbers are markedly higher than the average for presidential and non-presidential years, by around 15%. Some congressional-only years are in the low 30s, and don't even get me started on turnout for primaries.
