Journal by aristarchus

So, American Congress having hearings. Seems some folks are not all that happy about it. But today I heard a Doug Collins referring to something, not sure what it was, but I could have swore I heard him say that someone was "besmirking the dead". Does anyone have any idea what this is?

No doubt, it has something to do with "getting to the oranges of the Russia investigation", as the target of the investigations, Suspect #1 put it. Something about a Squid going pro? Go for it, Squidward! He'll make a fine Republican Congress critter, in spite of being an invertebrate.

Move to strike the last word. Ball in your court, Soylentils.

Oh, and Louie Gohmert hates education.

Well, there is "besmirch". Could be a play on words (particularly from some blog) to invoke the idea of someone smirking while they besmirch this particular constituency.

Did you not read the whole journal? Ari was using misspelled words to mock the Republican idiocy. Have you watched anybof the okpeachment hearings? Super embarassing for all those Rs, nothing of substance, and frequently laughed at. There is no defense left for Trump, even for the simeballs like jordan, gaetz, nunes and graham. One sad bunch of corrupt pricks.

I'll take Hillary over them any day, even if she was guilty of all the nonsense Rs have tried to smear her with.

On that note, it is distressing to see "logical" people believe every tall tale about her even after investigations found nnothing, yet Trump is still being defended with all the publicly available proof that he is a criminal conman.

Do you conservatives have no morals whatsoever these days?

It was four paragraphs. That's much too long.

Of course not. Because it's idiocy.

Well, that makes one of us.

Aside from a few felonies, of course. It's remarkable how gross negligence of handling national security data, along with some cases of destruction of evidence, all for some mysterious purpose just keep sliding off that ideological armor.

Do you conservatives have any morals either?

What is weird about the present round of accusations is that there is a compelling national interest to find out why Hunter Biden, a son of a powerful politician (former Vice President Joe Biden) got a plush sinecure in Ukraine together with the suspicious dismissal of a Ukrainian prosecutor, allegedly at the behest of the father Biden while he was Vice President. The fact that Trump happens to benefit from this investigation, particularly, if it turns up wrongdoing is IMHO irrelevant. US politics have degenerated to the point where so many crimes are investigated only because the other side benefits - that includes the present Trump impeachment. And so much of what presidents do in such negotiations is to push for things they want. Sorry, I'm not going to sacrifice national interest merely because someone in political office would benefit. Emoluments clauses are secondary.

Now, if President Trump were to go beyond merely demanding an investigation to demanding a particular outcome of that investigation, then we're solidly in impeachment and conviction territory with violation of Hunter Biden's rights to due process (and perhaps other things). But that apparently isn't a problem in the present investigation.

I find it bizarre what was seized upon as a case for impeachment. I don't mind that Trump is being investigated. I just wish that it was for something serious and important.

C'mon, khallow! You're not even trying! These are just Republican talking points, the stuff of hypocrisy, not persuasive at all! Where is your trademark "obvious rebuttal"??

BTW, Ghouliani (fresh back from investigating the Bidens in Ukraine) was just seen entering the white house in the company of his son, who has a do-nothing job in the white house at 95K a year. Corrupt? Nepotism? The Huckabee thing was bad enough.

A "play on words", that Doug does not understand? No, this is based on the video, where the congressman clearly said "besmirk", which is not a word in the English language. Perhaps they have a different language in Georgia, and play upon it. Otherwise, Collins is an idiot and a Republican, but, a la Mark Twain, I repeat myself.
